Arrest reports

Two men were arrested after using a sawed-off shotgun in an attempt to rob a Morgan City resident of narcotics.
Harold Jones, 36, of New Orleans, was arrested at 8:03 a.m. Thursday for aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of crack cocaine, introduction of contraband into a penal facility, illegal carrying of weapons while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and on warrants for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Joshua Bertrand, 35, of Houma, was arrested at 8:03 a.m. Thursday for obstruction of justice, possession of drug paraphernalia and principle to aggravated assault with a firearm.
Morgan City police received a call from a resident on Ninth Street regarding an aggravated assault with a gun. Officers located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Railroad at Federal avenues in Morgan City.
During the investigation a sawed-off shotgun was located in the vehicle. Upon speaking to the victim, it was learned that Jones had knocked on the residence, and upon the victim opening the door, Jones produced the shotgun and made death threats toward the victim, Morgan City Chief Mike Banks said.
The victim slammed the door and immediately called police. Jones then got back into the vehicle and was driven from the area by Bertrand, Banks said.
Upon officers talking to Bertrand they observed that he dropped an item to the ground and upon retrieving the item officers found that it was a metal pipe that had been fashioned to smoke illegal narcotics, the chief said. Bertrand was questioned in regards to the incident on Ninth Street and he advised that he was requested to drive Jones to the residence to rob an individual of narcotics, and in doing so, he would be given a portion of the illegal narcotics, Banks said.
During the course of booking, Jones was searched and found to have a piece of suspected crack cocaine hidden in his sock. Jones was additionally charged accordingly. He was then found to be a convicted felon, garnering more charges, Banks said.
Banks also reported the following arrests:
—Kiersten Johnson, 32, of Morgan City, was arrested on 7:54 a.m. Thursday for illegal window tint, driving under suspension and a warrant for simple criminal damage to property over $500.
While on patrol, an officer observed a vehicle with dark window tinting. A traffic stop was conducted. Upon further investigation it was found Johnson was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and was a wanted person. She was released on $1,447 bail.
—Gary Draper, 41, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:05 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment for disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Morgan City police were dispatched to the Days Inn, made contact with Draper and found that he was a wanted person. He remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
—Ronald Barrow, 39, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:01 p.m. Thursday for illegal window tint, driving under suspension and warrants for Morgan City Police Department for failure to appear for speeding and no insurance.
While on patrol, a Morgan City Police Officer observed a vehicle being driven that had very dark window tint. Upon further investigation it was found that Barrow was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and that he was also a wanted person.
He remained jailed with no bail set.
—Shelly Lewis, 47, of Dry Prong, was arrested on at 6:43 p.m. Thursday on a probation violation.
A Morgan City police officer conducted a traffic stop on Lewis and found that she was a wanted person. She remained incarcerated this morning.
—Eric Tabor, 28, of Thibodaux, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. Thursday for improper lighting and possession of drug paraphernalia.
While on patrol, Morgan City police observed a vehicle with improper lighting. During the conversation, Tabor admitted to officers that he had a pipe that was fashioned to smoke illegal narcotics inside of the vehicle. Tabor was booked and incarcerated.
—Myles Morgan, 26, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace.
Morgan City police were dispatched to the 1000 block of Second Street in regards to a male subject who was knocking on doors asking for help. Officers had previous dealing with Morgan in earlier complaints in the night.
Upon speaking to him, officers detected that he may be under the influence of something as he was acting very strange and extremely paranoid, Banks stated.
He was jailed.
Meanwhile, a Berwick man wanted on warrants ran from deputies through a Bayou Vista store Thursday night.
Michael Hickson, 22, of the 500 block of Young Street in Berwick, was arrested Thursday at 7:04 p.m. for resisting an officer by flight, disturbing the peace and on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court.
Narcotics detectives saw Hickson walking into a store off of U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. Knowing Hickson had an active warrant, detectives attempted to make contact, but he fled on foot, running through the store from detectives. He was apprehended behind the store, Sheriff Mark Hebert said.
Hickson remained jailed this morning with no bail set.

—Eric L. Fontenot, 28, of Rayne, was arrested Thursday at 1:34 p.m. for reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of Schedule IV (Xanax) and possession of a synthetic cannabinoid after a single vehicle crash on Prairie Road North in Verdunville.
As the deputy made contact with Fontenot, who was sitting in the driver’s seat of the car, the deputy saw pieces of a white pill in the door. The pill pieces were identified as Xanax. The deputy also observed a bag of a green leafy substance on the seat where Fontenot was sitting. The substance was determined to be synthetic marijuana. During the course of the crash investigation, the deputy learned that Fontenot lost control of the vehicle after something inside the car had fallen on the floor. Fontenot failed to negotiate a curve, travelled off the roadway and into a ditch. The car continued to travel, hitting a culvert and a utility pole guide wire, before striking a residence. Fontenot was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. No bail is set.
—Addie Guidry, 35, of the 2400 block of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested Thursday at 6:51 p.m. for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Upon arrival, the deputy learned from store personnel that Guidry was seen tearing tags off of merchandise and concealing the items. Guidry then attempted to leave the store without paying for the goods. Guidry was transported to the parish jail for booking and incarceration. Bail is set at $1,000.
—Charlie Williams Jr., 35, of Bayou Vista, was arrested Thursday at 11:26 a.m. for no driver’s license; possession of synthetic cannabinoids; second offense possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and on a warrant for domestic abuse battery, simple criminal damage to property, theft and theft of a motor vehicle.
Deputies responding to a complaint of a disturbance at a room in a Bayou Vista motel contacted a narcotics detective to assist with the investigation. The detectives received consent to search the room and located bags of synthetic cannabinoids and marijuana along with rolling papers. During the course of the investigation, the detective learned that the drugs belonged to a person who had left the area in a pick-up truck. Deputies located Williams, driving down La. 182 in Bayou Vista and stopped the vehicle.
The narcotics detective received consent to search the vehicle and located another bag containing a synthetic cannabinoid. Williams does not have a driver’s license. Also, Williams has a prior conviction for possession of marijuana. The charges listed on the warrant stem from a separate investigation that began on April 2 after deputies were called to the same motel in reference to a disturbance. Deputies learned that Williams gained entrance to a room by kicking in a door. Once inside, he struck a female in the face. Williams then took her purse and her vehicle and left the area. Williams remained jailed this morning with no bail set.
—Quincy Johnson, 20, of the 2600 block of Fifth Street, Berwick, was arrested Thursday at 9:01 p.m. for possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia and on four warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court.
—Derrick J. Riley, 25, of the 300 block of Laurel Street #2, Morgan City, was arrested Thursday at 9:01 p.m. for possession of legend drug promethazine.
Narcotics detectives traveling U.S. 90 in the Bayou Vista area observed an SUV cross over the white fog line and conducted a traffic stop. They recognized Johnson, who had several warrants for his arrest through drug court. They also located a bag of synthetic cannabinoids along with several paper wraps in his possession. During the course of the investigation, another passenger, identified as Riley, was found to be in possession of several promethazine pills. Johnson’s bail is set at $403,500. No bail is set for Riley.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Antonio Collins Jr., 29, 7:15 p.m. Thursday sheriff’s department warrant domestic abuse battery. Collins went to the police department to meet with his probation officer who was aware of the active warrant. Collins remains jailed with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Artey Foulcard, 35, of Beech Street in Franklin was arrested at 9:58 p.m. Thursday on Red Cypress Road in Patterson for speeding, suspended driver’s license and resisting by failure to comply. He was released after paying a $763 fine.
