Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
A 38-year-old Morgan City woman was jailed after she stole 14 packs of crawfish and a box of shrimp, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Tanisha Wilkerson, 38, of Morgan City, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Saturday for resisting an officer, theft of goods (valued $187.58) and on a warrant for a probation violation.
Morgan City police were was dispatched to Rouses Supermarket in regards to a shoplifter. Officers spoke to management and they advised that upon confronting the suspect, she dropped her bag and took off running.
A description of the female was given to officers who searched the area and came into contact with a woman matching the description. Wilkerson ran from officers who chased her and caught the female in the area of the 1200 block of Victor II Boulevard.
Wilkerson was secured and transported back to Rouses Supermarket at which time she was identified by management. Officers were made aware that Wilkerson attempted to leave the store with 14 packs of crawfish tails and one box of shrimp, valued at $187.58. She was jailed.
—Kedesha Scott, 19, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:25 p.m. Saturday for theft more than $500, two counts of theft less than $500 and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to the 200 Block of Halsey Street in regard to a theft. Officers spoke to the complainant and they advised that Scott was visiting at the residence. Upon her leaving they noticed that several items were missing. Officers determined that Scott stole two cell phones and a wallet from the residence.
Officers located Scott walking in the area and located some of the stolen items on her. She was transported back to the residence where she was positively identified by the victims. Officers located one of the stolen phones. Scott was jailed.
—Terry Vaughn II, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested 10:55 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for simple battery.
Vaughn turned himself in at the police department on a warrant which was filed April 5 for an incident in which Vaughn struck another person. Vaughn was jailed.
—Mariah Cook, 23, of Morgan City, was arrested at 8:22 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for theft more than $500.
Officers went to an address in the 300 block of Wise Street in an attempt to locate Cook on warrants. Officers located Cook, and she was jailed.
According to the warrant and affidavit, detectives began an investigation into a theft of money from a local grocery store in December 2013. Detectives discovered that Cook committed a theft of $616 in cash.
—Veronica Sanders, 47, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Thursday for contempt of court in LaSalle Parish.
Police received information that Sanders was at Teche Regional Medical Center and that LaSalle Parish Sheriff’s Office held warrants for her arrest. Officers went to Teche Regional Medical Center where they made contact with Veronica Sanders and the warrant was confirmed. Veronica Sanders was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked and incarcerated awaiting transfer to LaSalle Parish.
—Hope Chettiyar, 35, of Morgan City, was arrested at 11 a.m. Friday on a warrant for contempt of court/failure to pay a probation fee.
Chettiyar turned herself in and was released after posting $500 cash bail.
—Carlos Pichs-Franco, 42, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:46 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to return leased merchandise, no proof of insurance and driving under suspension.
Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of La. 182 at Grizzaffi Street. Upon making contact with the driver it was determined that he was driving under suspension and also did not have valid proof of insurance on the vehicle.
Pichs-Franco was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked and incarcerated and later released on a $914 bail.
According to the warrant and affidavit, he failed to return leased merchandise to a local cable company upon termination of his lease.
—Eric Harvey, 30, of Morgan City, was arrested at 10:22 p.m. Friday for failure to appear for driving under suspension. Officers were advised that Harvey was arrested in Patterson on the warrant. Police then traveled to the Patterson Police Department where they took custody of Harvey. Harvey was jailed.
—Alfred Francois, 49, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:11 a.m. Saturday for failure to appear for disturbing the peace intoxicated, two counts of failure to appear to pay fines and a warrant for a drug court violation.
Police went to an address in the 600 block of Duke Street where they came into contact with Francois, who was jailed.
—Tris Matthews, 47, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7:06 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for a probation violation, and on a warrant for failure to appear to pay probation fees.
Police went to an address in the 300 block of South Railroad Avenue in an attempt to locate Matthews on outstanding warrants for his arrest. Officers located Matthews, and he was jailed.
—Shaquita Thomas, 24, of Morgan City, was arrested at 9:57 p.m. Saturday for improper lighting and driving under suspension.
Police observed a vehicle traveling on La. 182 near 11th Street with improper lighting on the vehicle. The driver, Thomas, was jailed and released on $447 bail.
—Michael Falgout, 28, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:07 a.m. Sunday for remaining where forbidden and on a warrant for violation of a protective order.
Officers were dispatched to the Holiday Inn in regards to removal of a person. Officers spoke to the security guard at which time they were advised that Falgout was removed from the bar but kept returning. Officers made contact with Falgout, and he was jailed.
—Donna Reed, 43, of Morgan City, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Sunday for theft by shoplifting.
Officers were dispatched to Walgreens in regards to a shoplifter. Officers spoke to the manager, and found that Reed was observed removing tags from items in the store and stuffing them in her purse. Officers found that Reed had several items that were stolen from the store that valued $199.98. Reed was jailed.
