JAMES GRATTEN CROCKETT

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Cemetery, New Iberia, Louisiana, for James Gratten Crockett, 76. He passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at his home in New Iberia, Louisiana, surrounded by his family. James was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Pulaski, Virginia, to Richard and Winifred (Moore) Crockett.
He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1966 aboard the USS Constellation. He was employed in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years. He resided in Stephensville, Louisiana, where he raised his family. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener. He especially treasured spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Mary “Peggy” Landry Crockett of New Iberia; a son, James Gratten “Jimmy” Crockett Jr. of Oklahoma; three daughters, Margaret (Joey) Prejean of Lafayette, Ann (Bart) Koen of Berwick, and Catherine Crockett of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, Virginia, Grant and Jake Prejean, Brenna and Sara Crockett, and Abbie, Cate and Anna Koen; one great-grandchild, Jonathon Harrison Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Richard, Charles, Freddie, Leona and his twin sister Ellen.
