A 37-year-old Bayou Vista man apprehended Wednesday is the second arrest in an investigation into the operation of a meth lab that began in early December 2014, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Jason Alfred, 37, of the 100 block of Two Sisters Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for operation of a clandestine lab. Narcotics detectives located Alfred at his residence. The warrant was obtained following an investigation that began in early December into the manufacturing of methamphetamine at a location on Saturn Road and another location at Two Sisters Court in Bayou Vista.
Detectives located several items consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine at each residence. Alfred was jailed with no bail set. This is the second arrest narcotics detectives have made in this case.
On Dec. 17, Cole Fruge, 23, of the 1300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested on two warrants for operation of a clandestine laboratory in connection with the same case, Hebert said. Narcotics division detectives located Fruge on Saturn Road on the active warrants.
Hebert reported responding to 35 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Danny Fulks Jr., 29, of the 700 block of Parish Road in Franklin, was arrested at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday for possession of Schedule II with intent to distribute. Narcotics detectives observed a vehicle with no working brake lights travelling on the shoulder of U.S. 90 in the Bayou Vista area and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives made contact with the driver, identified as Fulks.
Detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located 30 Daytrana patches for which Fulks had no prescription, Hebert said. Fulks was jailed with no bail set.
—Misty Lafleur, 33, of the 3500 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 5:16 a.m. today on a warrant for eight counts of issuing worthless checks and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a jailer conducting a standard warrants check located the warrants for Lafleur’s arrest. No bail is set.
—Marilyn Hatch, 35, of the 1800 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:29 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for theft and forgery. Hatch turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City after learning of the warrant for her arrest.
The warrant is the result of an investigation into a report of stolen checks that had been cashed at local banks, the sheriff said. The detective assigned to the case identified Hatch as the person who stole and forged a check, cashing it in the amount of $400, Hebert said. Hatch was released on a summons to appear in court April 7.
—Clifton Martin Jr., 52, of the 700 block of Prairie Road North in Franklin, was arrested at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for theft of goods. Martin turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. The warrant stems from an investigation into a complaint of shoplifting from a store in Bayou Vista. Martin was seen on surveillance video placing items inside a shopping bag and leaving the store without paying for the goods, Hebert said. Martin was released on a summons to appear in court April 7.
—Jericia Dugas, 31, of Natalie Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 4:33 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of license plate not on display and failure to honor written promise to appear, a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of failure to stop at a stop sign, operating a vehicle not covered by security, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
A deputy assigned to the warrants division located Dugas at the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin. Dugas was jailed with bail set at $3,319.50.
—Leslie P. Johnson, 20, of Como Street in Patterson, was arrested at 6:06 p.m. Wednesday on three warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A drug court compliance deputy located Johnson at the drug court facility on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista on the warrants, Hebert said. Johnson was jailed with bail set at $300,000.
—Virgil A. Hebert, 55, of the 100 block of Sunny Side Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 7:44 p.m. Wednesday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. A deputy responded to a complaint of a possible crash involving a pedestrian on La. 182 in Amelia.
The deputy made contact with Hebert on Sunny Side Lane and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Hebert was treated for an injury to his leg at Teche Regional Medical Center, Hebert said. The deputy determined that the injury was not consistent with being struck by a vehicle travelling at highway speeds, the sheriff said.
The deputy released Hebert on a summons to appear in court April 7.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Aaron Dinger, 22, of Pacific Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Wednesday on three drug court warrants for failure to appear. Dinger was jailed on $300,000 bail.
