A 47-year-old Morgan City woman was charged Monday after she admitted to striking another woman in the face, Morgan City Assistant Police Chief Mark Griffin Jr. said in a news release.
—Brenda K. Gordon, 47, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. Monday for simple battery.
Officers were dispatched to a South Railroad Avenue residence regarding a disturbance. Officers arrived and were advised by a woman that she was struck in the face by Gordon, Griffin said. Officers located Gordon who admitted to officers that she did strike the victim in the face, Griffin said. Gordon was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
Griffin reported the following arrests:
—Raymond C. Soumellian, 52, of Arenz Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:57 a.m. Monday for appearing in public intoxicated.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Fifth and Greenwood streets regarding an intoxicated person. Soumellian was located and found to be impaired, barely able to stand on his own and partially clothed, Griffin said. Soumellian was jailed.
—Ciara M. Percle, 28, of Onstead Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:37 p.m. Monday for possession of synthetic marijuana.
Percle was located on La. 182 near Fourth Street and placed under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the Morgan City Police Department. Percle was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Eric F. Albany, 37, of Clark Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Monday for operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and careless operation with an accident.
Officers responded to a minor vehicle crash near the intersection of Federal and Railroad avenues. A driver of a vehicle involved, Albany, was charged with careless operation of a moveable with an accident, Griffin said. He was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Germany D. Broussard, 35, of Leona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:43 a.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to pay probation fee.
Officers located Broussard at a Leona Street residence and placed him under arrest on an outstanding warrant for the City Court of Morgan City. He was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Kourtney N. Jessie, 22, of Bernard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:10 a.m. today for simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to an Adams Street address regarding a disturbance. Officers learned from witnesses that Jessie came to the residence, and during a disturbance, threw a brick through a window damaging the front window of the residence, Griffin said. St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies located the suspect’s vehicle in the Bayou Vista area and detained her for the Morgan City Police Department, Griffin said. Jessie was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Christopher Singleton, 39, of the 1000 block of Ramos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6 p.m. Monday on charges of failure to signal, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, transactions involving proceeds, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of the controlled dangerous substance law as it relates to drug free zones.
Narcotics division detectives and officers with the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Sixth Street in Morgan City near a school, Hebert said. Detectives located marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, Hebert said. Singleton was jailed with no bail set.
—Eric Swanson, 36, of the 1200 block of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Monday for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Chad Bertrand, 30, of the 500 block of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:48 p.m. Monday for possession of drug paraphernalia and for a warrant for violation of protective orders.
On Monday, sheriff’s office narcotics division detectives and Morgan City Police Department narcotics division detectives were patrolling the area of Patterson when they observed a vehicle fail to use its turn signal. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with the driver, Bertrand, and the passenger, Swanson, the sheriff said.
While speaking with Bertrand and Swanson, they were both found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Swanson was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine, Hebert said. During a standard warrants check, Bertrand was found to have a warrant for his arrest through the Patterson Police Department for violation of a protective order. Bertrand and Swanson were jailed with no bail set.
—Ray Ingram, 21, of the 400 block of Lawrence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Monday for stop sign violation and possession of marijuana. Detectives with the Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Federal Avenue in Morgan City. During the course of the investigation, Ingram was found to be in possession of a bag of marijuana. Ingram was arrested and later released on a summons to appear in court on May 12, 2015.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Javontrae Levine, 21, of Muggah Street in Patterson, while incarcerated at the Franklin Police Department, was booked at 10:13 a.m. Monday on multiple warrants for 16th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Levine was jailed with no bail set yet.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
