A 21-year-old Stephensville man, who tried to escape during questioning by Patterson police, was jailed Monday in connection with a rash of Patterson vehicle burglaries, Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle said.
Brennan J. Foreman, 21, of the 1000 block of Stephensville Road in Stephensville, was arrested at 12:17 p.m. Monday for six counts of theft of a motor vehicle, six counts of possession of stolen things and on a warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.
Police began investigating a rash of car burglaries several weeks ago, LaSalle said. He connected Foreman to at least 10 such burglaries. The investigation is ongoing with other arrests likely, possibly including charges of possession of stolen things, LaSalle said. He said he would be sharing the findings of the investigation with surrounding law enforcement because he is confident that Foreman is connected with other car burglaries in areas outside of Patterson police jurisdiction.
Foreman attempted to escape through the interview room ceiling while Assistant Chief Gary Stevenson and Det. Larry Jones were in another room preparing to interview him, LaSalle said. Foreman was seen on camera jumping up trying to grab something and pull himself into the ceiling, perhaps without realizing that he was being watched on a video surveillance, LaSalle said.
“He never got into the ceiling and the officers restrained him without incident,” LaSalle said. He added that in addition to the burglary charges, they are considering adding an attempted escape charge.
“We just upgraded our camera and surveillance system. All the prisoners at the Patterson Police Department are under somebody’s eye at all times,” LaSalle said.
Foreman was jailed with no bail set yet.
LaSalle also reported the following arrest:
—David L. Aucoin Jr., 18, of the 100 block of Cremo Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Monday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids. Aucoin was jailed on $2,000 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
A third suspect was arrested Monday night in connection with a June 25 Oak Street shooting in Morgan City during which a residence and vehicles were hit with bullets, Banks said in a news release.
—Justin D. Price, 25, of General MacArthur Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7 p.m. Monday on a warrant for illegal use of a dangerous weapon or instrumentality and a warrant for aggravated criminal damage to property.
In a continuation of an investigation of an Oak Street shooting which occurred June 25, detectives arrested Price. In that incident several shots were fired which damaged vehicles and a residence in the Oak Street area. Detectives, during their investigation, uncovered evidence which indicated that Price fired the shots from a vehicle driven by or occupied by Patrick Leblanc, 25, of Morgan City, who had previously been arrested by investigators.
Both Price and Leblanc are accused of conspiring or being directed by Devan Serpa, 29, of Morgan City, who had also been arrested. Price turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department where he was booked by detectives on the outstanding warrant. He remains in jail on $15,000 bail. The investigation is continuing and police are asking those with any information regarding this or any other incident to contact the Morgan City Police Department Detectives Division at 985-380-4605.
—Joseph G. Soto, 27, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:24 a.m. Monday for failure to signal, child restraint violation, resisting by giving false information, operating with a suspended driver’s license, on a Terrebonne Parish warrant for domestic battery third offense, and a St. Mary Parish warrant for domestic battery second offense.
An officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation in the area of Ditch Avenue and La. 182 in Morgan City and attempted to identify the driver, who provided a false name to the officer. The officer was able to positively identify him as Soto.
Soto was jailed.
—Kilo White, 24, of First Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:43 p.m. Monday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, reckless operation of a moving vehicle with a crash, no driver’s license, no insurance, and simple criminal damage to property
Officers responded to a vehicle crash near the 100 block of Glenwood Street and arrived to find a partially clothed man walking in the roadway screaming incoherently. The man, White, was detained. He had an injury to his face. According to witnesses, White was seen operating a vehicle at high speeds on Glenwood Street before losing control, striking three vehicles, and damaging shrubs and bushes on the properties.
A bystander who advised that he felt threatened by White who had approached him in an aggressive manner advised that he shoved White away from him causing him to fall against a parked utility trailer resulting in the facial injury. White, who could not provide a driver’s license or motor vehicle insurance, was taken into custody and taken to Teche Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. He advised officers that he had consumed synthetic marijuana prior to the incident. A blood test was taken and the results of that test are pending. White was jailed.
—Kathryn Vines, 41, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:37 p.m. Monday on a warrant for conspiracy to distribute Xanax and conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility.
—Crystal G. Thompson, 35, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Monday on a warrant for conspiracy to possess Schedule IV Xanax, and a warrant for conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility.
Narcotics detectives became aware of a plot to smuggle and introduce contraband into the Morgan City Jail and began an investigation. Investigators learned and uncovered evidence that Thompson, who was incarcerated in the Morgan City Jail, was planning with Vines to conceal and smuggle Xanax along with other items of contraband into the facility for Thompson’s use, Banks said. Detectives intervened and detained Vines.
Both Vines and Thompson admitted to the plot during questioning by detectives, Banks said. Vines was located on Greenwood and Federal Avenue in Morgan City. Thompson was located in the Morgan City Jail where she was booked. Both remain in jail.
—Jill M. Parker, 39, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:45 p.m. Monday on a warrant for two counts of drug court violations.
Parker turned herself in to the police department and was booked on outstanding warrants for failure to comply with terms of her Drug Court Probation. She was jailed on $200,000 bail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 46 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Melvin East, 53, of the 6500 block of Eighth Street in Marrero, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Monday for theft of goods and possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles.
—Leonard Yarborough, 52, of the 2600 block of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Monday for driving while intoxicated, possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, theft of goods, and violation of registration provisions (switched license plate).
A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. Using a description provided by store personnel, the deputy located and stopped the suspects who were attempting to leave the area in a vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Yarborough, and smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him, Hebert said.
The deputy also observed Yarborough to be swaying where he stood and slurring his words as he spoke. The deputy then made contact with East who was a passenger in the vehicle. The deputy identified Yarborough and East as the people seen on video surveillance taking several fishing poles from the store and then exiting without paying for the goods, the sheriff said.
The deputy located open cans of beer and an open bottle of vodka in the vehicle Yarborough was driving. The deputy also found that the displayed license plate was not registered to the vehicle. Both men were jailed. The fishing poles were recovered. No bail is set for Yarborough. East was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 13.
—Micah P. Domingue, 20, of the 100 block of Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:43 p.m. Monday for theft of goods. A deputy responding to a complaint of shoplifting learned from store personnel that Domingue was seen taking a cell phone case from the shelf and placing it in his pocket. Domingue was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 13.
—Dustin Boudreaux, 24, of the 1100 block of Levee Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of issuing worthless checks. Boudreaux turned himself in on the warrant. Boudreaux was jailed with bail set at $5,000.
—Kevin Mitchell Jr., 23, of the 1400 block of La. 662 in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 2:47 a.m. today on a warrant for simple criminal damage to property. A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle with a faulty headlight and conducted a traffic stop on La. 182. The warrant stems from an investigation into a report of a person breaking the window of a vehicle. Mitchell was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—William Harrison, 60, of the 600 block of Maine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:06 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace intoxicated and open alcohol container. Harrison was jailed.
—Vincent Blackwell, 49, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:43 a.m. Friday for theft by shoplifting. Blackwell was released on $250 bail.
—Leon Scott, 27, of La. 182 in Berwick, was arrested at 8:47 p.m. Friday for resisting an officer, possession of marijuana second offense and on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for possession of marijuana. Scott was jailed awaiting bail to be set.
—Gavin Landry, 29, of Belle River Road in Pierre Part, was arrested at 1:49 p.m. Sunday for aggravated assault with a firearm. The arrest was in regard to a complaint of a person brandishing a gun while driving on U.S. 90. Landry was jailed on $3,500 bail.
—Jamichael Bowie, 24, of Fourth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:34 p.m. Sunday for disturbing the peace by engaging in a fistic encounter. Bowie was released on $160 bail.

—Michael McKinnon, 22, of the 100 block of Morris Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Sunday for violation of a protective order and simple battery. McKinnon was jailed with no bail set yet.
