A 35-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Tuesday after he was accused of striking and threatening a woman inside a residence, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Germany D. Broussard, 35, of Leona Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to a Leona Street residence in regards to a 911 hang up call. Officers found a female victim who advised that Broussard had entered her residence by damaging a window to gain entry. The victim told police that she discovered Broussard in the bedroom of the residence and he subsequently began to strike and threaten her, Banks said. Officers located Broussard at a nearby residence, and he was jailed.
Banks reported the following arrests:
—Floyd Victor, 38, of Ann Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday for reckless operation of a moving vehicle, driving under suspension, on an Assumption Parish fugitive warrant for DWI and hit and run, and on a Golden Meadow Police Department warrant for contempt of court.
An off duty police officer observed a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner in the area of Fifth and Everett streets. The vehicle was observed spinning its tires and driving at a high rate of speed in an area congested with bystanders and children.
The off-duty officer contacted the Morgan City Police Department. Officers located the vehicle at a residence located in the 600 block of Fifth Street. During questioning, the driver, Victor, initially attempted to hide that he was driving the vehicle, but later admitted to it, Banks said. Victor was jailed.
—Therina L. Russell, 39, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday for theft of goods (value $19.99).
Officers responded to a complaint of a theft at a La. 182 supermarket. They arrived to learn that store employees had detained a female who attempted to leave the premises without properly paying for an item valued at $19.99. Russell was jailed and released on cash bail.
—Kristin A. Sanders, 23, of Bush Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear for a seat belt violation and a warrant for a seat belt violation, and a warrant for failure to appear for no driver’s license in possession.
Sanders was jailed and released after posting cash bail.
—Wade Rhodes, 52, of Morgan City, was arrested at 5:54 p.m. Tuesday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for a probation violation. Rhodes was located by an officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Onstead Street and jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 23 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Cheryl F. Tabor, 54, of the 2400 block of Tupelo Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Tuesday for reckless operation of a vehicle. A deputy responded to a complaint of a reckless driver on La. 182. The deputy located the driver, identified as Tabor, on Cane Road in Bayou Vista. Tabor was released on a summons to appear in court Oct. 13.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Richard L. Bradley IV, 21, of the 700 block of Douglas Drive in Houma, was arrested at 4:33 a.m. today for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and on a warrant for another jurisdiction. Bradley was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Cheryl Tabor, 54, of the 100 block of Cane Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:18 p.m. Tuesday for driving while intoxicated second offense, possession of Schedule IV drugs, two counts of possession of a legend drug without a prescription and careless operation of a motor vehicle. Tabor was jailed.
