A 22-year-old Morgan City man was jailed on multiple drug and firearm charges Wednesday stemming from a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation into illegal drug activity at a Morgan City residence, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Joshua D. Robertson, 22, of the 1400 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday for possession of Schedule III Lortab with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm, transactions involving drug proceeds, violation of a CDS law (Drug Free Zone), and resisting an officer (refusing to be booked).
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detectives conducted an investigation into illegal drug activity occurring at a lot on the corner of Fifth and Maine streets in Morgan City. Detectives made contact with Robertson and located Lortab pills and a firearm nearby, Hebert said.
Using the National Crime Information Center, detectives learned that the firearm was stolen, Hebert said. Detectives also located $483 in cash, which was seized pending forfeiture, Hebert said. Detectives believe the money was derived from illicit drug sales, the sheriff said. Detectives transported Robertson to the parish jail for booking. During his arrest and booking, Robertson refused to give his name, Hebert said. No bail is set.
