A 26-year-old Amelia man is accused of striking pregnant woman at a residence in Amelia while in the presence of a child, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Nickolas Morris, 26, of the 2800 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 11:27 p.m. Wednesday for domestic abuse battery by child endangerment and domestic abuse battery of a pregnant victim.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a possible battery at a residence in Amelia. The deputy learned that Morris and a woman became involved in an argument that turned physical when Morris grabbed the woman, Hebert said. There was a child in the home at the time of the encounter, the sheriff said. The deputy located Morris at his residence. Morris was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Kenneth Diamond, 58, of the 200 block of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 12:13 p.m. Wednesday for stop signs and yield signs (failure to stop) and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana
A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed the driver of a vehicle run a stop sign at the intersection of La.182 and the frontage road. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Diamond. During the investigation, the deputy learned of the active warrant for Diamond’s arrest. Diamond was jailed and released on $1,000 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrest:
—Lydia Cruz, 28, of Morgan City, was arrested at 7 a.m. Wednesday on warrants for no tail lights, for no child restraint and no insurance.
Cruz was transported to the Morgan City Police Department to be housed for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. During her intake at the police department, officers found that Cruz was wanted on warrants for failure to appear in court July 1. Cruz was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Javien Francis, 17, of the 700 block of Oregon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 2:56 p.m. Wednesday for simple battery. Francis was jailed on $409 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Harold Henderson, 34, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for theft more than $100. Henderson was released on $1,000 bail.
