A 36-year-old Morgan City man was jailed Thursday after officers arrested the man for speeding 120 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone, Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks said in a news release.
—Phillip Morton, 36, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:01 p.m. Thursday, for reckless operation of a vehicle and speeding 120 mph in a 65 mph speed zone.
Police while on patrol, noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on U.S. 90 headed eastbound, Banks said. Officers were able to make a traffic stop on the vehicle and came into contact with Morton. He admitted to officers that he was driving more than 100 mph on the highway, Banks said. Morton was jailed.
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Lakendrick Chambers, 24, of Morgan City, at 4:20 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear for trial on simple battery, a warrant for failure to appear for trial on no driver’s license.
The Berwick Police Department had arrested Chambers for outstanding warrants for the Morgan City Police Department. Chambers was transported to the Morgan City Police Department.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 36 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Donald McCormick, 26, of the 100 block of Robicheaux Road in Verdunville, was arrested at 5:55 p.m. Thursday for driving left of center, driving under suspension, and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of burglary of an inhabited dwelling and the theft.
—Anna Hebert, 35, of the 200 block of Wayne Lane in Centerville, was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia and abuse of toxic vapors.
—Danny Savoie, 37, of the 1400 block of North Prairie Road Circle in Centerville, was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Thursday for possession of Schedule I synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia, and abuse of toxic vapors.
Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for crossing the fog line and centerline of La. 317 in the Centerville area. Detectives made contact with the driver, McCormick, and two passengers, Hebert and Savoie. While speaking with them, detectives learned that McCormick held an active warrant for his arrest.
Also during the investigation, detectives located synthetic cannabinoids, and rolling papers belonging to Hebert and Savoie inside the vehicle. McCormick was jailed with bail set at $11,250. Hebert and Savoie were released on summons to appear in court on Jan. 26.
Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest pertaining to east St. Mary Parish:
—Yvisha Levine, 24, of Morrison Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday on warrants for domestic abuse battery and aggravated assault. Levine was also arrested on a warrant for Third Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Levine was jailed on $15,233 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
