Arrests reports
Morgan City Police Chief Michael Banks reported the following arrests:
—Maria Castro, 43, of Morgan City, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for interference with the custody of a child.
The warrant alleges that on Monday, Castro violated a child custody order. Several attempts were made to retrieve the child from Castro, but were unsuccessful, Banks said. Castro was located at a residence on Arenz Street where she was jailed.
—William Stokes, 49, of New Iberia, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office for speeding and reckless operation.
Police had conducted a traffic stop in the area of Federal Avenue and Onstead Street. Officers came into contact with Stokes, who was a passenger in the vehicle. A local warrant check was conducted on Stokes and it was learned he had an outstanding warrant for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office. Stokes was jailed.
—Rayfield Grant, 29, of Franklin, was arrested at 4:43 a.m. today for disturbing the peace.
Police were dispatched to a residence on Front Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they came into contact with Grant.
Grant stated that he and his girlfriend were arguing and he wanted to leave the residence. While talking to Grant, he became very belligerent and using profanities. Grant was told by officers to calm down and lower his voice, and he did not comply, Banks said. Grant was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 47 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Darryl Adams, 25, of the 6000 block of Grant Road in Napoleonville, was arrested at 11:56 a.m. Tuesday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft that occurred at a business in Amelia. The deputy identified Adams as the subject who stole a cell phone from an office at the business. Adams was jailed with bail set at $1,000.
—Chad M. Grimball, 33, of the 3100 block of Diane Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of contraband in a penal institution, a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana and failure to use seatbelt, a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles and a warrant from the City Court of Morgan City for failure to appear on the charge of criminal damage to property
A deputy located Grimball on River Road in Berwick on the warrants. Grimball was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
