Bayou L’Ourse man caught with drugs during stop

A 27-year-old Bayou L’Ourse man was caught with several different drugs during a traffic stop in Assumption Parish, Sheriff Leland Falcon said in a news release.
—Chance M. Landry, 27, of Pond Drive in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested Tuesday on the charges of possession of alprazolam with intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, felony possession of marijuana second offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Assumption narcotics agents observed a vehicle commit a traffic offense and stopped the vehicle on La. 662 at U.S. 90 in Bayou L’Ourse.
Agents conducted a traffic stop and interviewed Landry, who was in the vehicle. As a result of that interview, narcotics agents seized quantities of alprazolam, methamphetamine, marijuana and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Landry was booked into the Assumption Parish jail with bail set at $35,000.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Jean P. A. Templet, 22, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:59 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of marijuana and stop sign violation.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Arenz and Sixth streets and stopped the vehicle.
The driver was identified as Templet, whose behavior made the officer suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity. The officer searched the vehicle and located suspected marijuana. Templet was jailed.
—Angilee Williams, 53, of Louisiana Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Thursday on the charge of possession of cocaine.
A patrolling officer observed a female traveling in the area of Railroad Avenue and Ditch Street with no front or rear reflectors. As the officer approached, the female began to peddle faster as if to avoid the officer.
An investigational stop was conducted and the woman identified as Williams. The officer observed Williams discard a something onto the ground. The item was retrieved by the officer and identified as suspected crack cocaine. Williams was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dustin Ballard, 27, of I-49 South Service Road in Opelousas, was arrested at 5 p.m. Thursday on the charge of theft of goods.
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a call of a shoplifter at a business. The deputy made contact with Ballard and learned that he had taken a Bluetooth speaker, a watch and several other novelty items from the business without paying for them. Bail is set at $2,500.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Gregory Free, 34, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 8:12 p.m. on the charges of switched license plate and driving under suspension. Free posted $1,250 bail.
—Douglas Marks Jr., 45, of Utah Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Thursday on the charge of possession of synthetic marijuana. Bail is set at $2,000.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
