Bayou Vista man booked on sexual battery charge

A 22-year-old Bayou Vista man was charged with sexual battery Friday, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Harrison Bergeron, 22, of the 500 block of Riverview Drive in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:37 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with sexual battery.
A detective obtained the warrant after conducting an investigation into a complaint that Bergeron had sex with a female victim without her consent, Hebert said. Bergeron turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin after learning of the warrant for his arrest. Bergeron was released after posting $5,000 bail.
Hebert reported responding to 115 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Dallas Hodge, 51, of the 200 block of Vivian Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 11:50 a.m. Friday on two warrants for issuing worthless checks. Hodge turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City. He was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 7.
—A juvenile female, 15, of Patterson, was arrested at 3:58 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace. A deputy responded to a complaint of a juvenile causing a disturbance in the gym at Patterson High School. The deputy learned that a student began yelling and cursing at a teacher in the school. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Glenn Rochel Jr., 32, of the 100 block of Laura Street in Patterson, was arrested at 3:08 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple assault and telephone harassment. Rochel turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin. He was released on a recognizance bail.
—Derwin Vining, 37, of the 2300 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:20 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. A deputy received information regarding the whereabouts of Vining who had an active warrant for his arrest. The deputy located Vining at a business on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista and transported him to the parish jail. Bail is set at $1,832.08.
—Drew R. Baugher, 25, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 5:45 p.m. Saturday on three warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Baugher turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Bail is set at $300,000.
—Donald Cunningham, 70, of the 500 block of Arcemont Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:09 p.m. Saturday on the charges of simple battery, aggravated battery, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A deputy responded to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence on Arcemont Lane. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Cunningham pushed a female victim. Cunningham then retrieved a BB handgun and brandished it at several subjects standing in the street. The deputy also located marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia inside the residence. The deputy transported Cunningham to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Adrian Hixon, 29, of the 700 block of Parish Road in Franklin, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Saturday on the charges of driving while intoxicated, driving under suspension, open alcohol container in motor vehicles and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of operating a vehicle with a suspended license and speeding.
A deputy responded to a report of a reckless driver who drove through the bushes of a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. The deputy located the suspect vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Hixon. The deputy observed the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on Hixon’s breath, Hebert said.
The deputy also observed three open containers of liquor inside the vehicle Hixon was driving. After performing poorly on the field sobriety test, Hixon registered 0.139 grams-percent blood alcohol concentration on a breath test. Hixon was jailed with no bail set.
—Gonzalo Perez-Gonzalez, 32, of the 100 block of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:46 a.m. Sunday on the charges of driving while intoxicated, open alcohol container in motor vehicles, no driver’s license and careless operation.
A deputy patrolling the Amelia area observed a vehicle in a ditch between Frontage Road and La. 182 near the base of the Amelia bridge. The deputy saw a man standing near the vehicle and made contact with him. The deputy observed that the subject, identified as Perez-Gonzalez, smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage.
The deputy also observed an open container of beer inside the vehicle in the ditch, Hebert said. Perez-Gonzalez was unable to produce a valid driver’s license. During the investigation, Gonzalez performed poorly on a field sobriety test, the sheriff said. Perez-Gonzalez was jailed with no bail set.
—John G. Deville, 49, of the 200 block of Grandwood Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 7:20 p.m. Sunday on the charges of improper lane usage, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of drug paraphernalia and abuse of toxic vapors.
A deputy traveling on La. 182 in Morgan City observed a vehicle cross the fog line multiple times and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Deville. During the traffic stop investigation, the deputy located synthetic drugs inside the vehicle, Hebert said. Deville was jailed and later released on $4,750 bail.
—David Bonner, 48, of the 100 block of Cypress Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 11:33 p.m. Sunday on the charge of simple battery. The deputy responded to a report of a battery at a residence in the Patterson area. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Bonner grabbed a female victim and pushed her, causing her to fall to the floor, Hebert said. Bonner was jailed with bail set at $500.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Justin Hebert, 26, of the 100 block of Domino Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 8:13 p.m. Saturday on the charge of driving while intoxicated first offense and careless operation with an accident. Hebert was jailed with no bail set yet.
—Milton Perry, 48, of the 100 block of Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:59 p.m. Sunday on the charge of violation of a protective order. Perry was jailed with no bail set yet.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Dantrell I. Garrett, 29, of Victor II Boulevard in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:29 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession of marijuana (fourth offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law, driving under suspension, and failure to use turn signal.
A patrol officer in the area of Roderick Street and Wytchwood Drive observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Garrett, was asked to produce the proper paperwork for his vehicle.
It was determined that Garrett’s driver’s license was under suspension. Garrett was placed under arrest.
The officer located suspected marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics inside the vehicle. Garrett was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—John F. Sanford, 46, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Friday on the following charge for warrant-domestic abuse battery. Sanford was located at his residence on Fourth Street and placed under arrest for an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department.
The warrant stems from an incident in June which alleges Sanford and a female victim had gotten into a physical altercation. Sanford was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Joseph E. Brown, 32, of Raceland, was arrested at 11:15 p.m. Friday on the charges of appearing in public intoxicated, resisting an officer by giving false information, taking contraband to/from penal institution, possession of Schedule IV alprazolam, warrant-probation violation (two counts), warrant-failure to appear to pay probation fee, and warrant-failure to appear for trial.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Eleventh Street in regard to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told that the individual that caused the disturbance had left walking on Railroad Avenue.
A description was given and officers located Brown in the area of Railroad Avenue and Oak Street. While talking to Brown, officers could smell an odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
Brown was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department. Once at the department, an officer located a pill, identified as alprazolam, on Brown.
Also, it was learned that Brown had given officers a false name prior to being arrested. Warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court and the 16th Judicial District were discovered for Brown. He was additionally charged.
—Alexis Nerve, 31, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:25 p.m. Saturday on the charges of disturbing the peace and theft of goods. Officers were dispatched to a local business on La. 182 in regards to a disturbance.
When officers arrived, they were told that employee Nerve had left the business and taken items without paying for them. The items totaled $6.15.
When the employee returned, she caused a disturbance. Officers were able to located Nerve in the area of David Drive.
Nerve was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking. She was jailed.
—Jeffery A. McCracken, 50, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 7:06 p.m. Saturday on the charge of appearing in public intoxicated. Officers were dispatched to the area of Ditch Avenue in regard to an individual laying on the ground.
Officers arrived and made contact with McCracken. McCracken appeared intoxicated and had a smell of alcoholic beverage emitting from his breath.
McCracken was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.

—Casey R. Reeves, 35, of Kinder, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Saturday on the following charges of driving under suspension and failure to use turn signal. A patrol officer in the area of the La. 70 and U.S. 90 junction observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Reeves, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license. A computer check revealed that Reeves’ license was under suspension.
Reeves was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Jeremy R. LaCarte, 25, of Florence Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:16 p.m. Saturday on the charge for warrant-failure to appear (five counts). LaCarte was a passenger in a vehicle that was involved in a traffic stop.
A warrants check was done on LaCarte and it was determined that he held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. LaCarte was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Shawn M. Guidry, 37, of Henry Street in Patterson, was arrested at 2:31 a.m. Sunday on the charges of driving under suspension, license plate light required, warrant-failure to appear, and warrant-domestic abuse battery for St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
A patrol officer in the area of Second and St. Clair streets observed a vehicle with improper lighting. The vehicle was stopped to investigate. The driver, Guidry, was asked to produce a valid driver’s license.
A computer check revealed that Guidry’s driver’s license was under suspension. Guidry also held warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Guidry was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and was jailed.
—Derrick J. Jones, 33, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:27 a.m. Sunday on the charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace. Officers were dispatched to a residence on Egle Street in regard to a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived, the victim explained that Jones had struck her in the face. Officers did notice marks on the victim’s face consistent with her statement.
Jones was located outside the residence and was using profanities in the presence of the neighbors and children in the area. According to reports, Jones did admit to pushing the victim.
Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
