Detectives seeking information on overnight business burglary

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a theft of diving helmet and $200 in cash from a business this morning, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
At 7:50 am today, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to a report of a business burglary at Vilas & Associates on Cargill Road in the Calumet area. The investigation revealed that at about 11 p.m. Wednesday night two people accessed the property by boat, broke into a window on the waterside of the facility, and stole a commercial diving helmet along with approximately $200 in cash, the release stated.
The two people were captured on video surveillance. Detectives are seeking any information the public may have on this crime, the release stated. The diving helmet is described as a used red KM37, serial number 9544KM. The helmet has a new regulator cover, new one way valve, and one spot of gelcoat repair on each side of the shell. A photo of the diving helmet is included, the release said.
