Investigators identify bank robbery suspect

Robbery suspect Barry Paul Gilmore, 53, of Patterson, was captured at the Waffle House on La. 182 in Morgan City this morning, according to police.
Officers located Gilmore at 7:32 a.m. after the Morgan City Police Department received a tip that he was at the restaurant, according to Morgan City Chief Mike Banks.
Gilmore was detained and turned over to St. Mary Parish Detectives. The investigation is ongoing.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives Wednesday identified Gilmore as the man seen on video surveillance MC Bank in Bayou Vista Tuesday, according to a news release.
Gilmore was wanted on a warrant for simple robbery in connection with the incident.
He drives the 1990 Chevy pick-up truck seen in the photos released Tuesday. It bears Idaho license plate 1A8F988, the release stated.
At 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call of a robbery that took place at M C Bank on Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista.
Gilmore's pickup truck was seen at the Morgan City Federal Credit Union on Victor II Boulevard a few minutes after the Bayou Vista robbery. Employees at the credit union in Morgan City reported a suspicious person who was unable to gain access to the credit union building and left the vicinity.
