Morgan City man booked on 2009 battery charge

A 28-year-old Morgan City man was caught on a six-year-old warrant this morning after a traffic stop. The warrant accuses the man of striking a person with a glass bottle, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Fred P. Kenner, 28, of Grace Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:07 a.m. today on a warrant charging him with second degree battery and on the charges of no driver’s license and traffic control signal.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 182-U.S. 90 junction observed a vehicle run a red light. The driver, Kenner, did not have a driver’s license and he held an active warrant for the Morgan City Police Department, Blair said.
The warrant stems from an incident in July 2009, in which Kenner allegedly struck a person with a glass bottle, Blair said. The injuries sustained required medical attention, Blair said. Kenner was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Brandon T. Kent, 28, of Short Street in Morgan City, at 7:36 a.m. Thursday on the charge of driving under suspension and on a warrant charging him with probation violation.
A patrol officer observed Kent, who the officer was aware had outstanding warrants, in the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and conducted a traffic stop, Blair said. Kent was also found to have a suspended driver’s license. Kent was jailed.
—Ciara M. Percle, 28, of Onstead Street in Morgan City, at 4:59 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging her with three counts for failure to pay fines, a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for drug court and a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging her with failure to appear. Percle was located in the area of Fifth and Freret streets. Percle was jailed on the warrants.
—Germany D. Broussard, 35, of Leona Street in Morgan City, at 6 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with failure to pay probation fee.
Broussard was located in the area of Apple Street. Broussard was jailed on the warrant.
—Milton A. Thomas, 48, of Lawrence Street in Morgan City, at 10:18 p.m. Thursday on the charges of driving under suspension and license plate light required.
A patrol officer in the area of Federal Avenue and Garber Street observed a vehicle with improper lighting, Blair said. After the officer conducted a traffic stop, he discovered that the driver, Thomas, had a suspended driver’s license. Thomas was booked and later released on bail.
—Lacy L. Johnson, 31, of Ciro Street in Morgan City, at 11:47 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging her with two counts of failure to appear, a warrant charging her with probation violation and a warrant for failure to pay fines.
Johnson was located in the area of La. 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Johnson had outstanding warrants for his arrest, and officers also located suspected marijuana and items used smoke illegal narcotics on him, Blair said. Johnson was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 37 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Devon Marsh, 23, of Ciro Street in Siracusaville, at 8:54 p.m. Thursday on warrants charging him with flight from an officer, off road vehicle on the highway, simple criminal damage to property, criminal trespass and possession of crack cocaine. Marsh was located by a deputy while on patrol and placed under arrest on the warrants. While being checked he was found to have cocaine in his possession, Hebert said. He was jailed with no bail set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Lynn A. Richard, 42, of the 100 block of Vista Village in Morgan City, at 10:54 p.m. Thursday on the charges of driving while intoxicated first offense, speeding 50 mph in a 35 mph zone and open container in vehicle. Richard was jailed with no bail set.
—Cornel Woods, 42, of the 2700 block of Albany Street in Kenner, at 1:04 a.m. today on the charges of DWI first offense, suspended driver’s license and possession of marijuana first offense. Woods was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
