Morgan City man booked on home invasion, battery warrants

A 34-year-old Morgan City man was booked Thursday on home invasion and battery warrants after police stopped a vehicle for improper lighting, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Gabriel Mustiful, 34, of Bernice Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Thursday on warrants charging him with simple battery and home invasion and on the charge of improper lighting.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle in the area of Brashear Avenue near Sixth Street with no headlights and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Mustiful, had outstanding warrants for his arrest. Mustiful was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Taylor Stoker, 20, of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 8:03 a.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with probation violation.
Stoker turned himself in to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Stoker was jailed.
—Joseph J. Thibodeaux, 18, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:22 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia
—Alrena M. Jarrell, 20, of East McGee Street in Covington, was arrested at 12:22 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
—Brittney G. Atkins, 22, of Mixon Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 12:22 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Authorities conducted an investigation at a hotel on La. 182 in regard to locating an individual on a parole violation. Officers made contact with several subjects, identified as Thibodeaux, Jarrell and Atkins, in a room.
The subjects’ behavior made officers suspicious that they may be involved in illegal drug activity. Officers searched the room and located suspected methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Thibodeaux, Jarrell and Atkins were jailed.
—Joseph M. Price, 41, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:34 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging him with failure to appear to pay fines.
A patrolling officer located Price on Federal Avenue near Belanger Street at which time Price was arrested on an arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Price was jailed.
—Scarlett M. Burkart, 34, of Park Road in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:04 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
Burkart was transported from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office jail to the Morgan City Police Department where she was booked on an active arrest warrant held by the 6th Ward Morgan City Court. Burkart was booked into the Morgan City jail.
—Leroy Davis, 24, of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Thursday on the charges of stop sign violation, driving under suspension and possession of marijuana.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Freret and Fourth streets and conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Davis, who had a suspended driver’s license. The officer located suspected marijuana on Davis. Davis was jailed.
—Rayanne J. Strickland, 25, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Thursday on a warrant charging her with simple battery.
Officers located Strickland at an address on Wren Street at which time she was arrested on a warrant. Strickland was jailed.
—Timothy M. Gaskins, 27, of Maine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Thursday on warrants for failure to appear on the charge of expired driver’s license and for failure to appear on the charge of no turn signal.
Officers located Gaskins in the area of Ditch Avenue near Headland Street at which time he was arrested on active warrants. Gaskins was jailed.
—Heather D. Rube, 33, of Grand Caillou Road in Houma, was arrested at 10:48 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance laws and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of expired license plate.
Officers responded to a business on Victor II Boulevard in regard to a woman who locked herself inside the bathroom. Upon officers’ arrival, management stated that the woman had locked herself inside the bathroom for about 40 minutes and that it was time for the store to close.
Officers made contact with the woman, who was identified as Rube. Her behavior made officers suspicious that Rube may be involved in illegal drug activity. Officers checked the bathroom at which time they located suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The location of the incident was in the area of a school. A warrants check revealed that the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office held an active arrest warrant for Rube. Rube was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 34 complaints and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Justin Adams, 38, of the 300 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office developed credible information that Adams had illegal drugs at a business on U.S. 90 in Berwick. Detectives went to the location and found Adams at a gambling machine against a wall.
Behind the machines, detectives located a container with a bag of methamphetamine inside it and a pipe used for smoking the substance, Hebert said. While speaking with detectives, Adams admitted that he threw the meth behind the machines when he saw them walk in. Detectives also collected video evidence of Adams’ attempt to conceal the illegal substance. Adams was jailed with no bail set.
—Glenn N. Matthews Jr., 38, of the 3300 block of Grand Caillou Road in Houma, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. Thursday on the charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice. Narcotics detectives, along with members of the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, were patrolling the Amelia area.
While on Friendship Alley, detectives observed a subject make eye contact, get up, and move away from detectives. Detectives then saw the subject drop a bag of marijuana on the ground as he was walking away. The subject, identified as Matthews, was detained.
Detectives observed a pack of rolling papers where Matthews was sitting and a burnt marijuana cigarette. The bag of marijuana Matthews dropped was also recovered. Matthews was booked into the parish jail and released on $4,500 bail.
—Scarlett Burkart, 34, of the 100 block of Jamie Court in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 10:38 a.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the drug court treatment program. Burkart turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and was jailed with bail set at $100,000.
—Randy S. Landry, 40, of the 100 block of Mary Anne Street in Pierre Part, was arrested at 10:57 a.m. Thursday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the drug court treatment program. A deputy transported Landry from the Livingston Parish Detention Center to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants. Bail is set at $200,000.
—Marc A. Duhon, 28, of the 3000 block of Carrol Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:06 p.m. Thursday on two warrants for failure to appear on the charge of conspiracy to commit distribution of Xanax. Duhon turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and was jailed with bail set at $14,500.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
