Morgan City man charged with molesting 4-year-old girl

A 24-year-old Morgan City man was charged Wednesday with molesting a four-year-old girl stemming from a July 30 investigation, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Benjamin G. Hermach, 24, of Short Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:28 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with molestation of a juvenile.
Hermach was located at his home on Short Street and arrested on the warrant, which stems from an investigation that began July 30. Hermach allegedly made a four-year-old girl touch him in a sexual manner, Blair said. Hermach was jailed with no bail set yet.
Blair reported the follow-ing arrest:
—Alix R. Delatte, 22, of La. 182 East in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday on an Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear.
Delatte, located at a motel on La. 182, was determined to have a warrant for the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. Delatte was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Trevor Kober, 24, of the 1500 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:43 a.m. today on the charges of simple battery, simple criminal damage to property, theft, possession of open alcoholic beverages in motor vehicles, interfering with driver or vehicle control and criminal trespass.
A deputy responded to a report of a battery on La. 182 in the Patterson area near Zenor Road. The deputy made contact with a female victim and located Kober hiding in the bushes nearby, Hebert said. Kober was detained. During the investigation, the deputy learned that Kober was riding as a passenger in a vehicle driven by a woman when the two began arguing, the sheriff said.
Kober then pushed on the brake forcing the driver to bring the vehicle to a stop. As the argument progressed, Kober struck the female victim in the face, damaging her eye glasses, Hebert said. He then exited the vehicle taking several items that belonged to the victim and fled, the sheriff said.
While speaking with Kober, the deputy smelled the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on him and his breath, Hebert said. The deputy also observed that Kober’s speech was slurred. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located an open container of alcohol belonging to Kober. Kober was jailed with bail set at $4,000.
—Shalacey Williams, 30, of the 400 block of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of con-traband in a penal institu-tion. A deputy located an active warrant for Williams who was at the parish jail to visit an inmate. The court subsequently ordered the warrant recalled and charges dismissed, Hebert said. Williams was released.
—Valerie Landreneau, 45, of the 1500 block of Barrow Street in Amelia, was arrested at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of theft. A deputy conducted an investigation into a complaint of a stolen cell phone from a bar located on La. 182 in Bayou Vista.
The deputy positively identified Landreneau as the suspect who took the victim’s phone, Hebert said. Landreneau was located at her home and jailed with no bail set.
—Leisha Mcgraw, 35, of the 1000 block of Red Cypress Road in Patterson, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of theft and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Mcgraw turned herself in at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Joseph Bias, 58, of Guzzetta Drive in Berwick, was arrested at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of aggravated battery and possession of marijuana. Bias was transferred to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
