Morgan City police officer Janada Anslum is in serious condition this morning after her police unit was struck from behind on U.S. 90, according to Capt. James Blair, Morgan City police public information officer.
Blair said Anslum was at the city limits attempting to slow traffic in the westbound lanes heading toward a single-vehicle motorcycle accident on the U.S. 90 bridge when her vehicle was struck.
Anslum, who also serves as the department’s DARE officer, had to be extricated, he said.
Blair said she was taken by ambulance to PHI in Amelia and was taken by Acadian Ambulance AirMed to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center where she is listed in serious condition.
State Police Troop I is investigating the accident. The name of the other driver and any charges he or she may face have not been released.
