Patterson man faces aggravated rape charge

MORGAN CITY — A 23-year-old Patterson man was arrested Friday on a warrant for aggravated rape after police investigated a molestation of a juvenile that dates back to 2011 when the child was 9 years old, Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch said in a news release. 

Irvin Ramos, 23, of Patterson, was arrested at 9:59 a.m. Friday for aggravated rape.

Detectives investigated an alleged molestation of a juvenile that reportedly occurred beginning in 2011, Crouch said. As a result of that investigation, an arrest warrant was secured for Ramos.  The warrant alleges that Ramos had sexual contact with a juvenile, then 9 years old, beginning in 2011.  

The mother of the juvenile became aware of the incident and contacted authorities. 

Based on the age of the juvenile at the time of the incident, an arrest warrant was secured for Ramos for aggravated rape, Crouch said. 

No bail has been set.
