Police: Man caught with ecstasy pills after stop

A 22-year-old Morgan City man was charged Friday with possession with intent to distribute ecstasy pills after police stopped his vehicle for illegal window tint, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Travis C. Romereo, 22, of Dawn Drive in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:25 p.m. Friday on the charges of possession with intent to distribute MDMA-ecstasy, violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone and window tint violation.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle traveling in the area of La. 182 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard with what appeared to be illegal window tint, Blair said. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle identified as Romereo.
Romereo’s behavior made the officer suspicious that he may be involved in illegal drug activity, Blair said. The officer searched the vehicle and located suspected ecstasy pills, Blair said. The location of the incident was within the area of a local church in violation of controlled dangerous substance laws. Romereo was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Christopher J. Adams, 42, of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 11:13 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of uniformed controlled dangerous substance laws-drug free zone and improper turning
Adams was transported from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Department jail to the Morgan City Police Department on warrants. The warrants stem from a June 6 narcotics investigation where Adams was alleged to have been in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia while in a drug free zone on Allison Street. Adams was jailed.
—Alex J. C. Theriot, 26, of Andras Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:13 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery, a warrant for contempt of court, a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of simple battery and on a warrant for probation violation.
Theriot was transported from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office jail to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to several active arrest warrants. Theriot was jailed.
—Paris Durkins, 29, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:13 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with disturbing the peace.
Durkins was located at a home on Egle Street where she was arrested on a warrant. The warrant stems from an investigation into an incident on Egle Street reported May 15 of someone allegedly disturbing the peace. Durkins was jailed.
—Summer Billiot, 31, of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
—Jasmine T. Durkins, 24, of St. Joseph Street in New Iberia, was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Friday on the charge of disturbing the peace by fighting.
Officers responded to an address on Mallard Street in regard to a disturbance. Police located several subjects on scene, two being identified as Billiot and Durkins. Police learned that Billiot and Durkins were allegedly involved in an argument, which resulted in a physical altercation where both allegedly committed a battery on one another. Both Billiot and Durkins were jailed.
—Kimberly Evans, 24, of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 9:06 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Evans was located a hotel on La. 182 in Morgan City where she was arrested on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant. Police searched Evans and located suspected drug paraphernalia on her, Blair said. Evans was jailed.
—Christopher Sylvester, 20, of Short Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers responded to a home on Short Street in regard to a disturbance. Police arrived and saw a person later identified as Sylvester standing in the middle of the street shouting using profane language. Officers told Sylvester several times to calm down, but he ignored their warnings, Blair said. Sylvester was jailed.
—Soloman Falgout, 26, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 1:10 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers responded to a restaurant on La. 182 in regard to a person wanting to report a battery. Police spoke with a person who showed signs of be the victim of a battery. Officers learned that the victim and Falgout were allegedly involved in an argument at a residence on Fourth Street when Falgout committed a battery on the victim.
Police went to the Fourth Street address where they located Falgout. Officers found evidence of a disturbance and the battery, Blair said. Falgout was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 108 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Nikeria Jefferson, 22, of the 2200 block of Mazant Street in New Orleans, was arrested at 10:53 a.m. Friday on the charge of possession of marijuana. A deputy patrolling U.S. 90 in Amelia observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop.
The deputy made contact with the driver, Jefferson, and smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle to search the car and located a small amount of marijuana wrapped in cellophane. Jefferson was released on a summons to appear in court. Jefferson was also issued a citation for speeding.
—Patricia Gray, 48, of the 1700 block of Guyther Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:58 p.m. Friday on the charges of driving under suspension and on a warrant from Patterson Police for failure to appear on the charge of no tail lights.
A deputy responding to a complaint made contact with Gray, who was in a vehicle in the parking lot of a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. While speaking with her, the deputy learned that she was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license and had an active warrant for her arrest. The deputy transported Gray to the parish jail for booking. Gray was later transferred to the Patterson Police Department jail on the warrant.
—Miranda Brown, 23, of the 100 block of Elaine Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear for a drug court status conference and failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. Brown was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center from Assumption Parish. Bail is set at $100,000.
—Laura L. Vice, 46, of the 600 block of Superior Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:35 p.m. Saturday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
—Roy Louviere Jr., 43, of the 600 block of Superior Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:45 p.m. Saturday on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in Bayou Vista. During the investigation, the deputy collected evidence that Vice and Louviere committed a battery upon each other during an argument. Both subjects were jailed and released on $1,500 bail.
—Steven Morris, 29, of the 100 block of Vista Village Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 5:50 a.m. Sunday on the charges of domestic abuse battery in the presence of a juvenile.
A deputy responded to a domestic disturbance at a home in Bayou Vista. The deputy found evidence that Morris struck a woman several times in the presence of a juvenile, Hebert said. Morris was jailed with no bail set.
—Clifton J. Vining Jr., 46, of the 100 block of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:05 a.m. Sunday on the charge of misuse of 911. Deputies responded to a 911 call of a stabbing at Vining’s home.
Deputies made contact with the complainant, identified as Vining, and found that he was uninjured. Following an investigation, the complaint was found to be false. Vining was jailed with bail set at $250.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Traci Taylor, 30, of the 1800 block of North First Street in Jena, was arrested at 3:54 a.m. Sunday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated. Taylor posted $175 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
