Police: Man charged with indecent behavior

A 27-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly admitted to inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Fernando Vasquez, 27, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday on the charges of indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Chennault Street in regards to a possible molestation of a juvenile.
When officers arrived, they were told that a 14-year-old girl was inappropriately touched by Vasquez.
Officers located Vasquez in the residence. According to police reports, Vasquez admitted to officers of inappropriately touching the juvenile, Blair said. Vasquez was jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Daryl J. Richard, 53, of Gibson, at 12:12 p.m. Thursday on the charges of stop sign violation and driving under suspension.
A patrol officer in the area of Fig Street and Veterans Boulevard observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Richard, was determined to have a suspended driver’s license. Richard was jailed.
—Devante D. Frank, 23, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, at 2:28 p.m. Thursday on the charges of simple battery and simple criminal damage to property.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Bowman Street in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they were told Frank had come to the residence, damaged a screen door upon entering and committed a battery on the victim, Blair said. Officers were able to locate Frank at a residence on Dora Street. Frank was jailed.
—Vernon J. Robinson Jr., 29, of Chennault Street in Morgan City, at 8:59 p.m. Thursday on warrants charging him with contempt of court, probation violation and failure to appear.
Officers located Robinson in the area of Lawrence Street. It was determined that he held active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Robinson was booked and released after posting bail.
—Charlie Bennett, 44, of Thibodaux, at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce, flight from an officer and driving under suspension.
Bennett was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for outstanding warrants.
The warrants stem from an incident July 11, in which the Berwick Police Department requested assistance with a vehicle pursuit that was heading into Morgan City.
Officers assisted Berwick Police with the pursuit through various areas of the city. The vehicle that Bennett was driving eventually stopped in the area of Levee Road near Veterans Boulevard.
Bennett was then placed under arrest by the Berwick Police Department. The Morgan City Police Department filed warrants on Bennett for fleeing from officers, Blair said. Bennett was booked and incarcerated.
—Herman T. Solone, 22, of Morgan City, at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with failure to pay restitution and failure to appear.
Solone was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department for outstanding warrants he held for the Sixth Ward City Court. Solone was jailed.
—Rueben V. Jones, 28, of Houma, at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of Schedule II cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law, taking contraband to or from a penal institution, possession of Schedule II methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of Schedule IV Alprazolam with intent to distribute.
The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division, while on patrol, observed a vehicle fail to make a complete stop at the intersection of Federal and Railroad avenues and conducted a traffic stop.
Officers noticed the passenger identified as Jones, who was asked to exit the vehicle, Blair said. During the investigation, officers learned that Jones was the owner of the vehicle. Jones gave officers consent to search the vehicle, Blair said. Officers located suspected marijuana in the vehicle and a firearm, Blair said.
Jones was then arrested. Once at the Police Department, officers found suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine and pills identified as Alprazolam in Jones’ underwear, Blair said. Jones was additionally charged and incarcerated.
—Jerald Watson Jr., 29, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with burglary of an inhabited dwelling and possession of Schedule III Suboxone.
—Stephanie L. Courtney, 27, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 7:58 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
Officers located Watson and Courtney in the area of Federal and Railroad avenues and were determined to have active warrants for their arrest.
The warrants stem from an incident in June which alleges that both Watson and Courtney burglarized a residence on Glenwood Street, Blair said.
Officers also located a Suboxone strip on Watson. Watson and Courtney were jailed.
—Edward C. Hampton, 30, of Oregon Street in Berwick, at 9:09 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with two counts of failure to pay fines and no turn signal.
A patrol officer in the area of Brashear Avenue and Sixth Street observed a vehicle fail to use a turn signal and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver, Hampton, was found to have active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Hampton was jailed.
—Dralyn West, 18, of Morgan City, at 4:06 a.m. Thursday on the charge of possession of Schedule I marijuana.
Officers were dispatched to a local business on La. 182 in regards to a person in a vehicle with a gun who was pointing it at people, Blair said.
Officers arrived and located the vehicle and ordered the driver, West, out of the vehicle. During the investigation, officers determined that the weapon West had in the vehicle was a BB gun, Blair said. Officers also located suspected marijuana on West. He was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 49 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Cole Fruge, 23, of the 1300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, at 1:23 p.m. Thursday on a warrant on the charge of domestic abuse battery. Fruge turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Franklin.
A deputy investigating a report of battery that occurred at a residence in Bayou Vista learned that Fruge punched a woman in the face after she told Fruge to leave the residence, Hebert said.
Fruge was jailed with no bail set.
—Zachary Peralta, 30, of the 77100 block of Green Valley Road in Folsom, at 8:24 p.m. Thursday on the charges of vehicle burglary, simple criminal damage to property and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
A deputy responded to a report of a vehicle burglary at a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista.
Upon arrival, the deputy learned that the suspect fled from the scene. Another deputy in the area located the suspect, identified as Peralta, walking on U.S. 90 and detained him. As the investigation progressed, the deputy positively identified Peralta as the person seen inside the pick-up truck, Hebert said.
The deputy also collected evidence indicating that Peralta intended to steal the vehicle, Hebert said. Peralta was jailed with no bail set.
—Lashae Williams, 22, of the 3500 block of La. 182 in Berwick, at 8:17 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to return leased merchandise.
—Ronald Hall, 33, of the 3500 block of La. 182 in Berwick, at 8:20 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to return leased merchandise.
A deputy received information on the whereabouts of two subjects who held active warrants for the Morgan City Police Department.
The deputy located Williams and Hall at a business on U.S. 90 in Bayou Vista. Both were jailed with no bail set.
—Nakeisa Walker, 36, of the 200 block of Mallard Street in Morgan City, at 10:06 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, improper lane usage, failure to carry registration, and failure to honor written promise to appear.
A deputy assigned to patrol the Bayou Vista area observed two people yelling at each other in the parking lot of a business on La. 182.
The deputy made contact with the two people. While speaking with them, the deputy learned that one of them, identified as Walker, had an active warrant for her arrest.
Walker was booked and later released on $335 bail.
—Timothy Truong, 20, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Amelia, at 2:05 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
—Trinity Todd, 20, of the 100 block of Village Lane in Amelia, at 2:05 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
A deputy responded to a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence listed above.
Upon arrival, the deputy observed two people outside arguing. The deputy made contact with the subjects who were identified as Truong and Todd. The deputy learned that Truong and Todd were arguing when they committed a battery upon each other, Hebert said. Both were jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
