Sheriff: Man intended to sell 11 drugs

A 42-year-old Bayou Vista man was charged Tuesday with intending to distribute 11 different drugs after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives searched his home, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Miles J. Borel, 42, of the 100 block of Mercury Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute, possession of hydrocodone with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, possession of decanoate with intent to distribute, possession of testosterone with intent to distribute, possession of jintropin with intent to distribute, possession of chorionic gonadotropin with intent to distribute, possession of lorazepam with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, transactions involving drug proceeds and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Narcotics division detectives conducted a search warrant at Borel’s home. During the search, detectives located a large bag of methamphetamine along with several smaller bags of the drug, multiple bags of marijuana, fentanyl patches, hydrocodone pills, oxycodone pills, Xanax pills, lorazepam pills, bottles of decanoate, testosterone, jintropin, and chorionic gonadotropin.
Detectives also located a handgun and $644 in cash believed to be derived from illegal drug sales. Detectives also located items of drug paraphernalia including a digital scale, plastic baggies, rolling papers, and syringes. Borel was booked into parish jail with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 40 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Mary R. Driskill, 61, of the 3100 block of Second Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of improper lane usage, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, obstruction of justice and violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone).
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and members of the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division patrolling Berwick observed a vehicle repeatedly cross over the center line on Utah Street. Detectives conducted a traffic stop.
When they stopped the driver, identified as Driskill, they saw her eat suspected methamphetamine. Detectives detained Driskill and recovered some of the illegal drug she attempted to dispose of. While speaking with Driskill, she admitted to eating some of the meth.
Driskill was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center for evaluation. Upon her release from the medical facility, she was booked into parish jail. This traffic stop and subsequent drug investigation occurred directly in front of a church. No bail is set.
—Taylor Davis, 17, of the 100 block of Natalie Lane in Patterson, was arrested at 2:26 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of disturbing the peace by using offensive language. Deputies patrolling Bayou Vista were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at The Swamp skate park.
Deputies learned from park employees that a male subject was yelling profane language and that the subject had left the area. The deputy located the subject, Davis, on Southeast Boulevard near La. 182 and positively identified him as the person who was yelling and cursing. Davis was released on a summons to appear in court July 25.
—Stephanie Robertson, 32, of the 100 block of Chenevert Street in Lafayette, was arrested at 3:41 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of driver must be licensed, no insurance and driving on the right side of the road (driving in the left lane).
A deputy on U.S. 90 in the Ricohoc area observed a driver traveling in the passing lane for several miles without passing. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, identified as Robertson. The deputy found that Robertson had no driver’s license or insurance on file. Robertson was released on a summons to appear in court July 25.
—Corey Stevens, 30, of the 1900 block of River Road in Berwick, was arrested at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court.
—David Stevens Jr., 42, of the 400 block of Wilson Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:06 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of criminal mischief.
Deputies patrolling Bayou Vista observed Corey Stevens, a subject with an active warrant, in a vehicle traveling on U.S. 90 and stopped the car. The deputy stopped the driver, David Stevens, and located an active warrant for his arrest as well.
Deputies received consent to search the vehicle and located two syringes inside the car. Further investigation revealed that the items of drug paraphernalia belonged to Corey Stevens, the sheriff said. Both subjects were booked into parish jail. Corey Stevens’ bail is set at $201,500. David Stevens’ bail is set at $5,000.
—Eric Harvey, 32, of the 400 block of Adams Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. Tuesday for failure to appear on the charge of distribution of marijuana. A correctional officer conducting the booking of Harvey at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center located an active warrant for his arrest. Harvey was brought to the parish jail on bond surrender. No bail is set.
—Cedric P. Griffin, 34, of the 600 block of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule I drugs third offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, and domestic abuse battery. Griffin was brought to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant by a prison transport service from Jefferson County, Texas. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Allison Malik, 37, of Vivian Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 4:52 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of stop sign violation, yield violation and driving under suspension. Malik posted $1,250 bail.
—Victoriano Tahual Meretz, 39, of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of two headlamps required and driver must be licensed. Meretz posted $250 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrest:
—Jose L. Lopez, 57, of Wise Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:11 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lopez was arrested in the Morgan City Court in regard to an active arrest warrant. Lopez was booked into the Morgan City jail.
Chitimacha Police Chief Hal Hutchinson reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Daniel Alvarado-Lopez, 22, of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, flight from an officer and no driver’s license. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
