Sheriff: Man stole several thousand dollars from Patterson home

A 20-year-old Berwick man was booked into jail this morning after a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy discovered the man broke into a Patterson home and stole a few thousand dollars in cash, Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Blake A. Giroir, 20, of the 2900 block of Third Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:30 a.m. today on the charge of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
A deputy responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a home on Main Street in Patterson. The deputy developed Giroir as a suspect in the crime and found evidence that Giroir kicked open the door to the home, entered the home, and took several thousand dollars in cash, Hebert said.
The deputy also learned that Giroir was acquainted with the victim. Giroir was located at another residence in the Patterson area. Following the initial investigation, Giroir was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 38 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Donald R. Vilo Jr., 28, of the 400 block of Park Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:19 p.m. Monday on a warrant from the Patterson Police Department on the charge of distribution of marijuana and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of marijuana.
A correctional officer transported Vilo from the Lafayette Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking on the warrant. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Tremaine Ruffin Jr., 17, of Wren Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:23 p.m. Monday on a warrant charging him with disturbing the peace by fighting.
Officers located Ruffin on Terrebonne Street where he was arrested on a warrant which stems from a Feb. 24 incident in which Ruffin was alleged to have been involved in a fight. Ruffin was jailed.
—Micah Soileau, 18, of Joey Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:56 p.m. Monday on the charge of theft.
An officer responded to a theft complaint in the lobby of the Morgan City Police Department. The officer spoke with the complainant who stated that Soileau had stolen several items from the complainant’s home on Maple Street.
The complainant told the officer that Soileau was at the home visiting when he stole several items from the home and left, Blair said. Officers later located Soileau on Maple Street. Soileau admitted to taking the items, Blair said. Soileau was jailed.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Adrian Green, 26, of Tiffany Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. today on the charge of disturbing the peace by language. Green was jailed on $327 bail.
—Lee Hall IV, 19, of Camille Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 1:50 a.m. today on the charge of disturbing the peace by language. Hall was jailed on $327 bail.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
