Sheriff: Men found with stolen laptop, meth

Two men were arrested in Morgan City after a Thursday traffic stop, one for possessing a stolen laptop computer and the other for having methamphetamine on him, according to a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office news release.
—Elias Todd, 21, of the 100 block of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 5:29 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for illegal possession of stolen things.
—Jerret Cortez, 27, of the 200 block of Vivian Street in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested Thursday at 5:14 pm for possession of methamphetamine and resisting an officer.
On Monday, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a vehicle burglary on Zenor Road. The victim reported that a laptop computer was stolen from a company vehicle, Hebert said.
The detective assigned to the case learned that Todd attempted to sell the stolen computer at a local pawn shop. Narcotics detectives located Todd driving on Roderick Street and stopped the vehicle. Detectives knew that Todd was a suspect in the ongoing theft investigation. Todd and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Cortez, agreed to come to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City in regards to the theft investigation. Todd was subsequently arrested. No bail is set.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for Cortez and located a small bag of methamphetamine on him. Cortez continuously resisted detectives during the search. Following the investigation, he was jailed with no bail set.
Hebert reported responding to 43 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ragan Hines, 34, of the 100 block of Red Oak Drive in Vicksburg, Mississippi, at 6:28 p.m. Thursday for disturbing the peace intoxication and remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a disturbance on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia.
Upon arrival, the deputy learned that Hines was intoxicated and began yelling at employees. Hines refused to leave the establishment after told to do so several times.
She also continued to yell profane language throughout the course of the investigation. Hines was jailed with bail set at $1,000.
—Serigo Cerritos, 23, of the 1100 block of Lake View Drive in Amelia, at 6:56 p.m. Thursday on the charge of simple battery. A deputy responding to a complaint of a disturbance at a residence in Amelia learned that Cerritos repeatedly struck a male victim in the face.
The victim refused medical treatment at the time of the investigation. Cerritos was jailed and released after posting $500 bail.
—Lakendrick Chambers, 25, of the 300 block of Federal Avenue in Morgan City, at 9:48 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of simple battery, domestic abuse battery with a child present, aggravated assault, and remaining where forbidden.
During booking at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, a jailer located the active warrant for Chambers. No bail is set.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Eddie R Sanchez, 24, of Elaine Street in Morgan City, at 3:28 p.m. Thursday on 16th Judicial District Court warrants charging him with failure to appear for disturbing the peace by fighting and simple assault.
An officer responded to an area on Front Street near Brashear Avenue in regards to a suspect throwing rocks. The officer arrived and located Sanchez. He was jailed on the warrants.
—Ted Smith, 47, of Dawn Drive in Morgan City, at 7:38 p.m. Thursday on a 6th Ward City Court warrant charging him with violation of a protective order.
An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of La. 70 for a traffic infraction. During the stop, the officer came into contact with Smith. He was jailed on warrants.
—Kristin A. Sanders, 24, of Bush Street in Morgan City, at 9:37 p.m. Thursday on the charges of head light violation (two required) and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
—Vincent A. Thomas, 22, of Mount Street in Morgan City, at 9:37 p.m. Thursday on warrants 6th Ward City Court for failure to appear on the charge of possession of synthetic marijuana and probation violation.
An officer was patrolling the area of Railroad Avenue near Mount Street and observed a vehicle with improper lighting.
A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Sanders and the passenger as Thomas.
Sanders had a suspended driver’s license and police held active arrest warrants for Thomas. Both Sanders and Thomas were jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jason Cooper, 38, of Fairview Drive in Berwick, at 10:38 p.m. Thursday on the charges of loud music and driving under suspension. Cooper was jailed on $1,250 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Patrick L. Augman, 41, of the 600 block of Park Street in Patterson, at 1:10 a.m. today on a warrant charging him with entry on or remaining in after being forbidden and theft under $700. Augman was jailed on $1,565 bail.
