Sheriff: Robbery suspect threatened to kill jailers

A 32-year-old Bayou Vista man, who was in parish jail on an armed robbery charge, threatened to kill correctional officers when they removed him from his cell after he damaged a window, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Therold James, 32, of Teche Road in Bayou Vista, was additionally charged at 9:22 p.m. Wednesday with criminal damage to property and six counts of public intimidation.
A correctional officer at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center observed inmate James damage a window in a cell. Correctional officers responded and relocated James to another area of the facility. While being removed from the cell, the inmate made threats against the correctional officers’ lives. James remains in jail.
James had been arrested Sunday on a warrant charging him with armed robbery and home invasion. Continuing an investigation into the armed robbery and shooting that occurred Saturday, detectives found evidence connecting James to an armed robbery that occurred early Thursday morning at a home on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia.
Detectives obtained a warrant for James’ arrest. On Sunday morning, a Patterson police officer recognized James and arrested him. Another suspect in the same robbery, Dion Maize, 24, of Morgan City, was charged with armed robbery and home invasion in the same case.
Maize was also charged with attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery in a Saturday shooting and robbery at another home on Lake Palourde Road. One man was treated and released from a hospital for a gunshot wound to the torso.
Hebert reported responding to 41 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish
—Krystal D. Collier, 32, of West 75th Street in Cut Off, was arrested at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unauthorized use of a movable.
A deputy investigating a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at a business on U.S. 90 in Patterson made contact with Collier who was sitting inside a vehicle. While speaking with Collier, the deputy located a bag of synthetic marijuana and several packages of cigars inside the vehicle. The deputy also located an active warrant for Collier’s arrest. She was jailed with bail set at $13,500.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Brennan M. Acosta, 22, of Willow Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with littering.
An officer located Acosta at a home on Willow Street where he was arrested on a warrant, which stems from an incident reported July 20. Acosta was jailed.
—Kevin J. Diggs, 38, of Roys Lane in Franklin, was arrested at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of obscured windshield, driving under suspension and no vehicle insurance.
A patrolling officer observed a vehicle with an obscured windshield traveling in the area of La. 182 near U.S. 90 and stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Diggs, was found to have a suspended driver’s license, and the vehicle did not have insurance. Diggs was jailed.
—Bryan K. Faulk, 32, of Village Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:05 a.m. today on warrants charging him with failure to appear on the charges of littering and open alcohol container.
Faulk was transported from the Berwick Police Department to the Morgan City Police Department in regard to city court warrants. Faulk was booked into the Morgan City Jail and incarcerated.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Tyler Palmature, 19, of Ceylon Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:11 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of stop sign violation and open container. Palmature posted $425 bail.
—Bryan Faulk, 32, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Wednesday on a Morgan City Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of open alcohol container and a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of littering. Faulk was transferred to the Morgan City Police Department.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:
—Warren Raymond, 32, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of second offense simple battery involving domestic violence. No bail is set.
