Sheriff: Student threatened to ‘shoot up’ school

A Patterson High School student has been charged with terrorizing after threatening to “shoot up” the school, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
Randall Ramp, 17, of Como Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:11 a.m. Thursday on the charge of terrorizing.
A school resource officer responded to a report of terrorizing at Patterson High School. During the investigation, the school resource officer collected evidence that Ramp made statements in front of other students that he was going to bring a gun to school and that he wanted to “shoot up” the school.
Ramp was transported to the parish jail for booking. He was later transported to another facility for housing. No bail is set.
“We take no remarks lightly,” said Leonard Armato, St. Mary Parish Schools superintendent.
School officials encourage anyone who hears or sees threatening comments “to notify authorities so it can be handled immediately,” Armato said.
“We definitely want to be proactive in all cases,” he said.
