State AG: Berwick man charged with distributing child porn

A 47-year-old Berwick man was one of three Louisiana men arrested on child porn charges last week as part of a state Attorney General’s Office investigation.
In a Friday news release, Attorney General Jeff Landry Friday announced the arrests of three men on child pornography charges, including a Port Allen man accused of 1000 counts of sexual abuse images and/or videos of children.
Sean Carpenter, 47 of Berwick, was arrested on three counts of distribution of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.
Carpenter was arrested and booked into the St. Mary Parish prison as a result of a joint investigation between Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police, the release said.
“Our Cyber Crime Unit, with the assistance of law enforcement partners, continue to do all we can to reduce the number of internet crimes against children,” Landry said. “Due to recent budget cuts, our department may have to rely more on these partners to investigate and arrest child predators”
William Smith, 25 of Port Allen, was arrested on 1000 counts of possession of pornography involving juveniles (under the age of 13. Smith was arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail as a result of a joint investigation between the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit, the Department of Justice Fugitive Apprehension Team, Homeland Security Investigations, Louisiana State Police, West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana Probation and Parole.
Jacob Dane Chauvin, 31, of Houma, was arrested on 20 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13. Chauvin was arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Prison as a result of a joint investigation between the Attorney General’s Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, Louisiana State Police, and Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
