State police: Pedestrian hit, killed near Jeanerette

State police are seeking the public’s help to find the driver of pickup truck that struck and killed a 33-year-old Jeanerette woman walking on La. 182 near Jeanerette this morning, according to a state police news release.
Shortly after 1 a.m. today, Louisiana State Police Troop I was notified of a fatal crash on La. 182 east of Jeanerette, the release stated.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Krista L. Sedotal, 33, of Jeanerette was walking on La. 182 and was struck by a westbound pickup truck, police said. After the pickup truck struck Sedotal, it fled the scene traveling west on La. 182, according to police. Sedotal was pronounced dead on scene by the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office, police said.
Troopers recovered a front right headlight assembly belonging to a Dodge Ram 1500 truck, the release stated. The Dodge Ram is believed to be white or silver. More evidence is being collected and this case remains active, the news release stated.
Troopers are continuing the investigation and urge anyone with further information regarding this incident to contact Troop I at 337-262-5880. Troopers also urge the driver of the Dodge Ram to contact troopers "and turn yourself in,” police said.
