Three booked on drug charges after home search

Three people were arrested Wednesday on drug charges after narcotics detectives found several different drugs in a Bayou Vista home, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.

—Miles J. Borel, 42, of the 100 block of Venus Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of oxycodone with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law-drug free zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Fentanyl and possession of Subutex.

—Maryann M. Norris, 26, of the 100 block of Venus Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Krystal L. Meranta, 27, of the 200 block of Clarke Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 7:48 p.m. Wednesday on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Section began an investigation into possible illegal drug activity at Borel’s home. Detectives executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Venus Street in Bayou Vista and located bags of marijuana, oxycodone pills, a glass pipe, a Fentanyl patch, and Subutex pill, Hebert said.

The drugs were located within 2,000 feet of a church. Borel was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. Norris and Meranta were released on summonses to appear in court Dec. 14.

Hebert reported responding to 45 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Brittany Fisher, 26, of the 900 block of Omni Street in Amelia, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to failure to appear for a drug court status conference.

A deputy made contact with Fisher at a location on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia and located the active warrant for her arrest. Fisher was jailed with bail set at $100,000.

—John P. May Jr., 26, of the 100 block of Janet Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday on two warrants for failure to comply with the terms and conditions of drug court. A deputy was dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle on Second Street in Amelia and made contact with May.

While speaking with him, the deputy located the two active warrants for his arrest. May was jailed with bail set at $200,000.

Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrest:

—Keith Jones, 25, of Bowman Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of three counts of stop sign violation, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, possession of a Schedule IV drug, possession of a Legend Drug without a prescription and seat belt violation. No bail is set.

Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire reported the following arrest relating to east St. Mary Parish:

—Jesse Hart, 24, of St. Michael Street in Patterson, was arrested at 11:36 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of monetary instrument abuse and on a parole violation warrant.

Officers located Hart in the area of Sixth Street and had knowledge of an active warrant for a parole violation. After arresting Hart, officers allegedly located a counterfeit $20 on him. Hart was jailed with no bail set yet.

Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
