A Morgan City physician was booked Sunday on drug and firearm charges after officers discovered drugs she didn’t have prescriptions for and several firearms in her bedroom when responding to a complaint at her home, according to Morgan City Police.
Nsikan M. St. Martin, 32, of Marquis Manor in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule IV alprazolam, possession of Schedule II methylphenidate, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, and a violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.
Alisa O. Marshall, 37, of Marquis Manor in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Sunday on the charges of possession of Schedule I marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.
Officers were dispatched to a home in Marquis Manor in regard to removing an individual. When officers arrived, they spoke to St. Martin, who wanted Marshall removed from her home, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
While talking to officers, St. Martin informed them that Marshall had marijuana in her vehicle. Marshall gave officers consent to search her vehicle, and officers located what they believe to be marijuana and items used to smoke illegal narcotics, Blair said.
After finding the items, Marshall told officers marijuana could be found in St. Martin’s bedroom. Officers again spoke to St. Martin and told her what Marshall had said. St. Martin gave officers consent to search her bedroom, Blair said.
Officers located suspected marijuana, pills identified as alprazolam and methylphenidate, and items used to smoke illegal narcotics. Officers also found several firearms in the bedroom, Blair said. Both Marshall and St. Martin were booked and later released on bail.
St. Martin didn’t have a prescription for the drugs found in her bedroom, which resulted in the charges, Augman said.
According to a news release on Teche Regional Medical Center's website, St. Martin was joined the center's medical staff in October 2012 as an obstetrics-gynecology specialist offering health care for pregnancy, endometriosis, incontinence, ovarian cysts, menopause and specializing in gynecological surgery, including abdominal surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and hysterectomy.
In an email, Teche Regional spokeswoman Sabrina Roy said St. Martin is on the hospital's medical staff, "but is not employed by the hospital."
St. Martin "is employed by someone else," Roy said.
"Due to the confidential nature of the relationships we have with physicians, we are unable to provide any additional details," Roy said.
St. Martin received her medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans.
She completed her obstetrics and gynecology residency program at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, according to Teche Regional’s website.
