Two charged with intent to distribute crack cocaine

A Morgan City man and woman were charged Tuesday with intent to distribute crack cocaine among numerous other drug charges after detectives conducted a search of an Everett Street home, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said in a news release.
—Calvin S. Singleton, 33, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of Schedule II crack cocaine with intent to distribute, resisting an officer, violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law, possession of marijuana, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of Schedule IV Clonazepam, possession of Schedule IV Tramadol, possession of Schedule II Hydrocodone Acetaminophen, possession of drug paraphernalia, and on a hold for probation and parole.
—Tia H. Randle, 40, of Everett Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:39 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of possession of Schedule II crack cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule IV Clonazepam, possession of synthetic cannabinoids, possession of Schedule IV Tramadol, possession of Schedule II Hydrocodone Acetaminophen, transactions involving proceeds from controlled dangerous substance activity and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.
The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division conducted an investigation of illegal narcotics being sold from a home on Everett Street. With the assistance of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, they executed a search warrant at the home.
Officers located Singleton and Randle in the home. Police also found suspected cocaine, suspected marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, pills identified as clonazepam, tramadol, hydrocodone/acetaminophen and items used to smoke illegal narcotics, as well as $250 in cash, Blair said. Both Singleton and Randle were jailed.
Blair reported the following arrest:
—Ray C. Granger, 28, of Caffery Street in Franklin, at 1 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of direct contempt of court.
Granger was charged with direct contempt of court for disrupting court proceedings in the City Court of Morgan City. Granger was already incarcerated in the Morgan City jail.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 44 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Joseph Williams, 27, of the 1200 block of Willow Street in Franklin, at 12:11 p.m. Tuesday for failure to properly signal a turn and possession of marijuana.
—Gene Webb, 26, of the 200 block of Grandwood Street in Patterson, at 12:11 p.m. Tuesday on the charge of possession of marijuana second offense.
Detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division observed a vehicle that failed to properly signal a turn at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and La. 182 in Morgan City. Detectives conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the occupants, Williams and Webb.
During the traffic stop investigation, detectives located marijuana inside the vehicle, Hebert said. Williams was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 7. Webb was jailed with no bail set.
—Hurbert Lovett, 50, of the 2300 block of Wilson Lane in Patterson, at 12:54 a.m. today on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Narcotics detectives patrolling Amelia observed a vehicle fail to signal a turn on Lake Palourde Road and conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 90. While speaking with the driver, Lovett, detectives received consent to search the vehicle and located a soda can that had been used to smoke crack cocaine, Hebert said. Lovett was released on a summons to appear in court Dec. 7.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Brock Broussard, 27, of the 900 block of First Street in Patterson, at 9:01 p.m. Tuesday on the charges of remaining where forbidden and criminal damage to property. Broussard was jailed with no bail set.
—Crystal Dockery, 36, of the 5000 block of Pirates Alley in New Iberia, at 1:25 a.m. today on the charges of possession of drug paraphernalia second offense, criminal trespass, possession of stolen things, possession of Schedule II drug second offense and possession of prescription medication without a prescription. Dockery was jailed with no bail set.
—Michael Self, 36, of the 1300 block of Julia Street in New Iberia, at 1:25 a.m. today on the charges of possession of a firearm in the presence of an illegal controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia second offense, criminal trespass, suspended driver’s license, possession of Schedule II drug second offense and possession of stolen things. Self was jailed with no bail set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported no arrests.
