Two convicted sex offenders arrested in Morgan City

Two convicted sex offenders were arrested Wednesday in Morgan City for failing to meet the requirements of the sex offender program, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Joseph H. Pollard, 53, of the 200 block of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
Pollard was convicted in St. Mary Parish in 1989 of molestation of juveniles and in 2003 for indecent behavior with juveniles, Hebert said. Pollard was also convicted of failing to notify law enforcement of a change of address as a sex offender in 2012.
Pollard failed to comply with sex offender registration requirements and a warrant was obtained for his arrest. A detective with the Sex Offender Compliance Division located Pollard at his home. No bail is set.
—David T. Francois, 43, of the 400 block of Fourth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:14 a.m. Wednesday on warrants charging him with failure to provide notification as a sex offender, failure to pay annual sex offender registration fee and failure to obtain a special identification card as a sex offender.
Francois was convicted in St. Mary Parish in 1999 for sexual battery. Francois failed to meet sex offender notification, registration, and identification requirements, Hebert said.
A Sex Offender Compliance Division detective obtained warrants for the offenses. Francois turned himself in at the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City after learning of the active warrants for his arrest. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 42 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrest in east St. Mary Parish:
—Shawn Thompson, 37, of the 100 block of Lambert Lane in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:05 p.m. Wednesday on a Lafourche Parish warrant for contempt of court.
A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista stopped to speak with two people standing near a vehicle on Mars Road. While doing so, the deputy learned that one of the people, identified as Thompson, had an active warrant from Lafourche Parish. Bail is set at $1,000.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Melaine D. Rink, 41, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Rink was transported from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office to the Morgan City Police Department for an active warrant she held for the Morgan City Police Department.
The warrant stems from an investigation that began Aug. 1, which alleges Rink used a vehicle without the owner’s permission. Rink was jailed.
—Michael R. Metrejean, 27, of Garber Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:28 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of simple criminal damage to property and a warrant for two counts of failure to appear.
Officers located Metrejean in the area of Franklin Street and Federal Avenue. Officers were told that Metrejean caused a disturbance on Garber Street and damaged property at a residence, Blair said.
Metrejean was determined to have active warrants for the Sixth Ward City Court. Metrejean was jailed.
—Harris Swan, 48, of Morgan City, was arrested at 12:28 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with attempted false acquisition of a controlled dangerous substance.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Lake Palourde Drive in regard to a disturbance. Officers made contact with Swan.
Officers were told that Swan and another individual were having a verbal dispute, Blair said.
Swan was determined to have an active warrant for his arrest.
The warrant stems from a March 2011 incident in which Swan altered a prescription, Blair said. Swan was jailed.
—Alex J. Theriot, 25, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
—Erika H. Theriot, 23, of Sixth Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:03 a.m. today on the charge of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a local business in regards to a domestic disturbance. Officers made contact with Alex Theriot and Erika Theriot.
According to reports, officers were told that Alex Theriot and Erika Theriot had gotten into a verbal altercation that later turned physical, Blair said.
Both suspects had marks on them consistent with statements given, Blair said. Both suspects were jailed.
—David A. Turner, 24, of Houma, was arrested at 4:25 a.m. today on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear.
Turner was located in the area of Front Street and determined to hold an active warrant for the 16th Judicial District Court. Turner was jailed.
—Arthur N. Hardeman, 55, of Laplace, was arrested at 2:42 a.m. today on the charges of appearing intoxicated in public and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers were dispatched to the area of U.S. 90 and Brashear Avenue exit ramp in regards to a person asleep in the area.
Officers made contact with Hardeman and could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, Blair said. Officers also located an item used to smoke illegal narcotics on Hardeman, Blair said. Hardeman was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Jody Ray Cubbedge Sr., 57, of Lafayette, was arrested at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with domestic abuse battery. Cubbedge was jailed with no bail set yet.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
