Witnesses ID woman from two hit-and-run crashes

A woman identified in two hit-and-run incidents at a parking lot was arrested Friday, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Rebecca Freer, 32, of the 1100 block of La. 662 in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 10:01 p.m. Friday on the charges of hit-and-run driving (two counts), disturbing the peace (intoxication), and reckless operation of a vehicle.
Deputies responded to two reports of hit-and-run crashes in the parking lots of two businesses on La. 182 in Bayou Vista. With the assistance of witnesses to the crashes and other subjects on scene, deputies identified Freer as the driver involved in both incidents and located her at one of the businesses.
Deputies observed damage to Freer’s vehicle that was consistent with damage to the victims’ vehicles. Following the investigation, Freer was jailed and bail set at $3,000.
Hebert reported responding to 117 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Ronald J. Armond Sr., 43, of the 200 block of Murial Street in Bayou L’Ourse, at 4:30 p.m. Friday on the charges of warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of hydrocodone and warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
A deputy transported Armond from the Assumption Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants.
—Brian J. Weston, 26, of the 100 block of Lori Lane in Patterson, at 1:30 p.m. Friday on the charge of theft.
A deputy responded to a report of a theft at a business on U.S. 90 in the Patterson area.
The deputy learned from the complainant that a subject was seen reaching over the sales counter and taking several scratch off lottery tickets.
The deputy identified the subject as Weston and located him at his residence on Lori Lane.
Following the investigation, Weston was released on a summons to appear in court Nov. 17.
—Bartolo Pozos Fermin, 36, of the 800 block of Two Brothers Street in Amelia, at 5:07 p.m. Saturday on the charge of domestic abuse battery. A deputy responded to a disturbance at a residence in Amelia.
During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that Fermin grabbed a female victim around the neck during an argument.
The deputy transported Fermin to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—Cole Z. Fruge, 23, of the 1300 block of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, at 1:41 p.m. Saturday on the charges of simple battery and remaining where forbidden. A deputy responded to a report of a battery at a residence in Bayou Vista.
While investigating the complaint, it was determined that Fruge refused to leave the residence and struck a male victim in the head during an argument. The deputy transported Fruge to the parish jail for booking. Bail is set at $1,000.
Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported the following arrests:
—Wade Vidos, of Idaho Street in Morgan City, at 6:09 p.m. Friday on the charge of simple battery of the infirm.
Officers responded to a complaint of a male subject striking another subject.
The officers learned that Vidos started to argue with another person about repairs to a vehicle.
During the argument, Vidos stuck an 80-year-old person, Blair said.
Vidos left the residence, but was located by officers and jailed.
—James Solar, 41, of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, at 2:57 p.m. Saturday on the charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and aggravated second degree battery.
Officers were called to North Second Street due to a fight. Officers arrived and located Solar, who was detained by an officer.
During the investigation, the officer learned that Solar came to the residence and after knocking on the door entered the residence and confronted a man, Blair said.
Solar then began to strike the man with his fist, then at some point armed himself with a bottle and struck the man again, Blair said. Solar was jailed.
The victim was transported to Teche Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released, Blair said.
—D’Marcus Holly, 19, of Egle Street in Morgan City, at 12:34 p.m. Friday on a warrant charging him with contempt of court.
Holly was arrested by Morgan City Police Department on a warrant from City Court of Morgan City. Holly was transported from the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.
—Shane Womack, 29, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, at 8:39 p.m. Friday on the charges of improper lane usage, no driver’s license, possession of Schedule I marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A patrol officer in the area of La. 70 near Lake End Park conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing it cross onto the shoulder several times. Upon identifying the driver as Womack, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana.
After questioning Womack, he admitted that he had marijuana inside the vehicle. The officer located the suspected marijuana and suspected drug paraphernalia. Womack could also not produce his driver’s license. Womack was jailed.
—Curtis Robinson, 45, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, at 12:30 a.m. Saturday on the charge of disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers were called to a disturbance on Fourth Street in Morgan City.
The officers located Robinson sitting outside a residence. Officers learned that Robinson, who was found to be intoxicated, had thrown several items into the street, Blair said.
While the officers were speaking with other subjects, Robinson continued to yell and use profane language after being told not to do so. After advising Robinson several times to calm down, he was jailed.
—Roberto Hernandez, 28, of Fourth Street in Morgan City, at 7:58 a.m. Saturday on the charges of expired motor vehicle inspection sticker, no driver’s license, no insurance, no registration and switched plates.
A patrol officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. Upon identifying the driver as Hernandez, the officer learned that he did not have a driver’s license.
The officer found the license plate belonged to another vehicle, Blair said. Hernandez also could not produce a registration or insurance for the vehicle, Blair said. Hernandez was jailed.
—Stephen Barbour, 29, of Jones Street in Berwick, at 7:21 a.m. Sunday on a City Court warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft less than $750 and on a Baltimore County, Maryland, warrant for failure to appear on the charge of theft.
An officer located Barbour on La.182 in Morgan City. The officer knew of a warrant for the arrest of Barbour and stopped to speak with him, Blair said. Barbour was jailed.
—Brittan Boudreaux, 31, of Elizabeth Drive in Morgan City, at 8:51 a.m. Sunday on the charge of criminal trespassing.
An officer observed a suspect identified as Boudreaux looking into a truck in the area of Fourth Street.
Boudreaux spotted the officer and began to walk between the houses, Blair said. The officer made contact with Boudreaux who stated that he was attempting to find a tire to fix a friend’s truck and was going to ask the homeowner to use the phone, Blair said.
The officer spoke with the homeowner who did not know Boudreaux, Blair said. Boudreaux was jailed.
—Christopher Pittman, 28, of South Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, at 1:08 p.m. Sunday on a City Court warrant charging him with disturbing the peace by fighting.
An officer located Pittman on La. 182 in Morgan City and knew of an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer spoke with Pittman and advised him of the warrant. Pittman was jailed.
—Demarcus Skipper, 19, of Hickory Street in Patterson, at 3:04 p.m. Sunday on City Court warrants for failure to appear for probation violation and failure to appear to pay fines for possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
An officer observed Skipper walking in the area of Fifth Street in Morgan City. The officer spoke with Skipper and found him to be wanted by the City Court. Skipper was jailed.
—Kalab Wood, 20, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, at 4:51 p.m. Sunday on a City Court warrant for failure to appear to pay fines for disturbing the peace.
Wood was observed walking on Railroad Avenue in Morgan City. Wood was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Wood was jailed.
—Heather Banda, 38, of Fifth Street in Morgan City, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant charging her with three counts failure to appear for criminal neglect of family, a City Court warrant for failure to appear to pay a fine on the charge of following too closely, a City Court warrant for failure to appear to a pay fine on the charge of no insurance.
Banda turned herself into officers at the Morgan City Police Department and was jailed.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Darrin Hemphill, 47, of the 1700 block of River Road in Berwick, at 6:19 p.m. Saturday on the charge of simple battery.
—Alejandro Serna III, 32, of Marie Street in Patterson, at 11:07 p.m. Sunday on the charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, simple obstruction of highway commerce, and driving without a license.
