Woman charged with 27 counts of ID theft

A 28-year-old Morgan City woman faces 27 counts of identity theft after she was arrested Wednesday, Morgan City Police Chief James Blair said.
—Artesha S. Oliney, 28, of Shannon Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with 27 counts of identity theft totaling $1,678.
Detectives conducted an investigation in regards to identity theft. According to police, Oliney got bank account information and made unauthorized purchases on the account totaling $1,678. Oliney was located at her residence and jailed.
Blair reported the following arrests:
—Riley J. Dixion, 25, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, at 12:19 a.m. today on the charges of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Glenwood Street in regards to a disturbance. Officers spoke to the victim that stated she and her boyfriend, Dixion, had gotten into a verbal altercation, which later turned physical, Blair said. The victim showed officers an abrasion on her arm, which she claimed Dixion caused, Blair said.
Officers were able to locate Dixion in the residence and he did admit to getting into an altercation with the victim. Dixion was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking and incarceration.
—Kaylee Payne, 19, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, at 1:57 a.m. today on the charges of domestic abuse battery.
Officers were dispatched to a residence on Glenwood Street in regards to a disturbance. When officers arrived, they saw Payne strike another woman, Blair said. The victim stated that she and Payne had gotten into a verbal altercation, in which Payne later began to strike her, Blair said. Payne was jailed.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported responding to 39 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests relating to east St. Mary Parish:
—Franklin Pearce III, 30, of the 1000 block of Front Street in Morgan City, at 6:11 p.m. Wednesday on the charges of possession of marijuana second offense, obstruction of justice, no turn signal, stop sign violation, driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia
Narcotics detectives patrolling the Morgan City area observed the driver of a pick-up truck fail to signal a turn onto Dugas Street off Second Street and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the truck then accelerated away from detectives as it turned left onto First Street and ran a stop sign.
The vehicle came to a stop at the dead end of First Street. Detectives detained the driver who was identified as Pearce and observed marijuana inside the vehicle. Pearce admitted to detectives that he threw some marijuana out of the vehicle. Detectives received consent to search the truck and located an open cellophane bag containing loose marijuana and a pack of rolling papers along with loose marijuana scattered throughout the vehicle. Detectives walked down the street and also located the marijuana that Pearce threw out the window. Pearce was transported to the parish jail for booking. No bail is set.
—A juvenile male, 11, of Patterson and a juvenile male, 12, of Franklin at 11:47 a.m. Wednesday on the charge of simple battery.
A school resource officer assigned to the St. Mary Parish Alternative Program/School responded to a disturbance in a classroom. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that the two juveniles engaged in a physical altercation. Both juveniles were released to their guardians pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Miranda Brown, 22, of the 144 Rayne Court in Bayou L’Ourse, at 4:06 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear on the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Brown was transported from the Assumption Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrant. No bail is set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Luvenia Levine, 51, of Duke Street in Morgan City, at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday on warrants charging her with domestic abuse battery and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. No bail is set.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
