Berwick resident praises officials

I have been a resident of Berwick since 1971. We lived in Golden Farms, then built a house in Country Club Estates, then a relatively new development. In 1982, we moved to Nicklaus Street, still in Country Club Estates so one could say I have been a citizen of Berwick for quite some time now.
The reason for this letter is to congratulate Mayor Louis Ratcliff, his council and all the city employees. Mr. Ratcliff has followed in the footsteps of good mayors before him. Mr. Charles Savoie, Mr. Emmett Hardaway, and he has taken up the mantle of making Berwick a town for residents to be proud of. Our street is swept almost by the clock, weekly, trash and debris is picked up and town crews drive around looking for same. I see the grass being mowed, ditches cleaned regularly, the walking trail kept up, and improved yearly. One thing I have really been aware of recently is the workers who are doing the “dirty jobs!” I have never seen any of them just standing around and “leaning on their shovels,” as usually is evident in many other communities. To me, this attitude is gained and brought about by good leadership, good direction, and the building of pride in the job being done! Always this comes from the top and is strengthened by each foreman and each employee responding with pride.
I salute Louis, the council, the foremen of each crew and the members of the crews of the town of Berwick. You can believe me, I know quality work when I see it, and the job being done here surely makes the town of Berwick proof of a 100 percent effort by all concerned to make Berwick a town for residents to be happy in.
There is a desire shown to keep “Berwick beautiful!”
