To the Editor,
Thank you to all of our family and friends for their actions, support, and prayers. To the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s office, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, USCG, Berwick PD, and especially Gary Driskell, Bart Lang, Ross Mire and Chris Crappell of the St. Mary Sheriff’s water patrol who came to our aid. These agencies as well as family and friends risked their lives in inclement weather to look for us on Sunday night.
To name those to our knowledge: Rushe Aucoin, Craig and Zachary Osburn, Greg Green, Bubba Nini, David Myers and Billy Hymel. We know a lot of others were willing and ready to go.
Thanks to the owner of the camp that sheltered us for two days. We are so grateful to have had access to it. The numerous people at the boat landing and at our house awaiting our return was so heartwarming.
As our family was praying for a safe return, we never imagined the magnitude of prayers from loved ones as well as strangers that were coming our way. A rosary, led by Alison Wilson, had St. Stephen’s church filled with hopeful hearts. We would like to send our appreciation to Monsignor Courville who welcomed those wanting to come together in prayer on our behalf. His active involvement in local school and town activities serves as an example to all and inspires community involvement such as this.
All of you played a role in getting us home safely, and we feel very blessed to be part of such a loving and caring community.
With Sincere Gratitude,
Pete and Jennifer Orlando
