Charles Mayea of Patterson captured second place in the championship flight at the Louisiana Senior Amateur Tour’s first major event of the year at Koasati Pines in Kinder June 13-14. In the rain-soaked, two-day event, Mayea carded 76 and 77, respectively, but fell short of first place by four strokes to Doug Hobbs of Lafayette. The event is one of 11 scheduled tour stops across Louisiana. The next tournament is July 18 at Santa Maria Golf Club in Baton Rouge. The Louisiana Senior Amateur Tour is open to any Louisiana resident over 50 years old and is part of 17 state tours competing under the National Senior Amateur
Tour based out of Charlotte, North Carolina. Players compete in one of four flights based on their USGA handicap.
