’Jacks get votes in Class 3A poll

The Patterson Lumberjacks received votes in the first Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 3A prep football poll for the 2014 season.
Patterson, who received five votes, was the lone Tri-City area team to receive recognition.
John Curtis is the top-ranked team in the Class 3A poll.
Patterson’s Week 1 opponent, Brother Martin, received eight votes in the Class 5A poll.
Additionally, Central Catholic’s and Morgan City’s Week 1 foes also are ranked. Central Catholic’s opponent, Loreauville, is ranked No. 9 in Class 2A, while Morgan City’s foe, White Castle, was the top vote-getter outside the Class 1A top 10 with 16 votes.
Central Catholic’s District 7-1A foe, Vermilion Catholic, was ranked No. 7 in Class 1A in the initial poll.
Mangham was the top-ranked team in Class 1A, narrowly edging Haynesville in points, 120-118. However, Haynesville received five first-place votes to Mangham’s four.
Warren Easton is Class 4A’s top squad.
