Cardinal Lumber tops Houma Christian

He earned the complete-game victory. In seven innings, he surrendered two earned runs on seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts.
Offensively, he was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
“Fantastic job by Bryce today on the mound,” Cardinal Lumber coach Ryan Jensen said. “We are short on available arms, and he gave us a great outing. He threw strikes and trusted our defense, and thankfully, we responded.”

Braves clip Taco Bell
The Braves (H.L. Bourgeois) used a three-run rally in the bottom of the seventh to edge Taco Bell (Berwick) 4-3 in Gray Wednesday.
While the Braves took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Taco Bell came back in the third with two runs and the fourth for a 3-1 advantage.
The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh.
Despite the Braves’ late rally, Taco Bell head coach Mike Thomas said it wasn’t the seventh inning that hurt his squad.
“We left several runners in scoring position with less than (two) outs all day,” he said.
Offensively, hits were hard to come by for Taco Bell as they had just four.
D.J. Robicheaux finished 1-for-1, while Austin Price and Kyle Pitre each were 1-for-2 and Cody Roberie was 1-for-4.
Bradley Gray suffered the loss in relief. In 1.1 innings, he surrendered three earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
Starter Brandon Fryou and reliever Andrew Askew combined to surrender one earned run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
“I was again very proud of our effort, especially the pitchers,” Thomas said. “They did what we ask of them. They pounded the strike zone.”
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell fell 10-9.
Kyle Boudreaux led the squad with two hits — including a double — and an RBI.
Other top offensive contributors included Reid Wiley, a double and an RBI; and Hunter Landry and Mitchell Sanford, each a single and an RBI.
