Belle Chasse tops MCHS Lady Tigers soccer team

The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers dropped their regular season finale, 4-3, to Belle Chasse in District 6-III action on the road Monday.
The Lady Tigers scored first when Angie Sagastizado connected on a goal in the ninth minute.
However, Belle Chasse would tie the game at one a minute later and scored two more goals for the lead.
Allie Vincent cut Morgan City’s deficit to 3-2 before Belle Chasse extended its lead to 4-2.
Morgan City moved goalie Hannah Toups up front to give them more scoring punch and she connected on a goal in the 70th minute.
“We had some chances to tie and take the lead but couldn’t finish,” Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said.
On Friday, Morgan City hosted New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy for Senior Night and came away with a 6-0 victory.
Morgan City scored two goals in the first half as Kaylynn Gros netted a score in the 10th minute, while Marki Rivere added to the Lady Tigers’ lead with a goal in the 34th minute.
Morgan City scored four more goals in the second half with Toups scoring in the 50th minute, Mckenzi Smith in the 65th minute, Clara Soriano in the 68th minute and Vincent in the 79th minute.
During Senior Night festivities, Morgan City recognized five Lady Tiger seniors — Abigail Esteban, Toups, Cayla Mayon, Hannah Falgout and Victoria Rice.
On Thursday, Morgan City fell to Lutcher, 3-1, in District 6-III play.
Patterson said his team “played a very good game” despite the final score.
While Lutcher scored first, Morgan City responded with a goal by Sagastizado to tie the game.
“We had numerous chances to score,” Patterson said. “We could have well went up on Lutcher 3-1, but we couldn’t score.”
Lutcher scored before the half for a 2-1 lead.
“The second half was the same for us, chance after chance to score and the Lady Tigers couldn’t finish,” Patterson said.
Lutcher added another goal to its lead for the final margin.
Morgan City (3-16-1 overall, 3-7 in district) now will await its playoff seeding, which will be announced today.
Tigers defeat Belle Chasse
Morgan City scored two goals in the first half and made it stick in a 2-0 victory against Belle Chasse in District 6-III action at Belle Chasse Monday.
Brayan Aleman scored Morgan City’s first goal, while Daniel Valadez added a second for the Tigers.
On Friday, Morgan City faced New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy in a District 6-III contest that also was Senior Night.
Morgan City struggled to score as they didn’t net a goal until the 31st minute on a shot by Aleman for a 1-0 Morgan City lead.
In the second half, Morgan City added two goals, a penalty kick in the 65th minute by Valadez, the team’s goalkeeper, and another in the 78th minute by Robert Prejeant.
For Senior Night festivities, Morgan City recognized four players — Trevor Beam, Prejeant, Carlos Calderon and Mario Sanchez.
On Thursday, Morgan City fell to Lutcher, 1-0, in District 6-III play.
“We outshot and outplayed Lutcher but couldn’t score,” Patterson said. “Our lack of shooting and passing when (needed) or being out of position really hurt our chances.”
The match was scoreless at the half before Lutcher added the game-winning goal in the second half.
Morgan City (9-13-2, 4-6) now will await its playoff seeding, which will be announced Wednesday.
