Berwick beats Thibodaux, 9-1

The Berwick Lady Panthers bounced back from a tough weekend that featured two, one-run losses to record a 9-1 victory at Thibodaux Monday.
Berwick exploded for six runs in the fourth to break a scoreless tie, while they added three more in the sixth to up the lead to 9-0. Thibodaux added a run in the bottom of the sixth.
Berwick’s pitching duo of Sydney Jambois and Shelby Bergeron combined to surrender just four hits to Thibodaux. Jambois earned the win. In four innings, she surrendered a hit and fanned two. Bergeron pitched two innings of relief and surrendered a run on three hits and fanned two.
Offensively, Shannon Theriot led the Lady Panthers with a 2-for-4 performance with an RBI, two stolen bases and a run, while Mary Jordan Melancon was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Other top contributors included Bergeron, 1-for-3, a double, two RBIs and a run; Caroline Osburn, 1-for-4, an RBI and two runs; and Kayla Francise, 1-for-2, an RBI.
Berwick (4-4) will return to action Thursday when it takes on Brusly at 3:30 p.m. in Berwick.
Patterson remains
undefeated
The Patterson Lumberjills remained undefeated with a 12-0 run-rule victory against Covenant Christian in six innings Monday.
Taylor Hall earned the win.
At the plate, Cayla Wiggins was 2-for-2 with four RBIs, while Hailey Sehon led the Lumberjills with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs and two runs. Nia Broussard also finished 2-for-4 with a run.
Patterson (5-0) will continue nondistrict play today when it travels to face H.L. Bourgeois in a 4 p.m. contest.
