Berwick falls to Franklin

Franklin defeated Berwick, 33-23, in high school girls’ basketball action in Franklin Tuesday.
Berwick, in action for the first time in two weeks, was led in the District 8-3A contest by Madison Carline with 12 points.
Other Lady Panther scorers included Jordan Lipari with nine and Mary Jordan Melancon, two.
Berwick (1-8 overall, 0-2 in district) will return to action Friday when it hosts Erath.
Central Catholic falls
to Lafayette Christian
Lafayette Christian pulled away in the second half Tuesday in Lafayette to avoid an upset bid by Central Catholic in a 63-43 win in District 7-1A action.
Lafayette Christian, ranked No. 9 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 1A power rankings, led just 27-25 at the half against Central Catholic, ranked No. 18 in the state in Class 1A.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with 10 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Lydia Rivas had 10 points, two rebounds and one assist.
Other top contributors for Central Catholic included Jalaysia Bertrand, eight points and three assists, and Alayahia Poole, seven points.
On Monday, Central Catholic fell to Gueydan, 62-35.
Rivas led Central Catholic with a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She also had two steals.
Central Catholic (9-6, 1-2) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Centerville in a District 7-1A contest set for a 5 p.m. start.
