Berwick finishes 2-1 at Chalmette tourney

The Berwick Panthers finished 2-1 this weekend at Chalmette’s tournament, defeating East Jefferson and John Ehret, but falling to Chalmette.
On Saturday, Berwick defeated East Jefferson, 10-3.
Bradley Gray earned the win. In 3.2 innings, he surrendered an earned run on four hits with three walks and fanned six.
Offensively, Logan Angeron led Berwick with a 2-for-4 performance with a double. Other top contributors included Cody Roberie, 2-for-5; and D.J. Robicheaux, 1-for-3, a double.
On Sunday, Berwick defeated John Ehret, 6-3.
Cameron Wiley earned the win. In 3.1 innings, he surrendered two runs — one earned — on six hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
Offensively, Gray finished 1-for-3 with a double.
Later Saturday, Berwick fell to Chalmette, 9-2.
Angeron suffered the loss.
Offensively, Tanner Caldwell finished 1-for-1, while Mitchell Sanford was 1-for-2. Roberie and Kyle Pitre each were 1-for-3.
Berwick (5-8) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts St. Amant in a 4 p.m. contest.

The Morgan City Tigers defeated St. Augustine, 5-0, Saturday at the New Orleans Urban Youth Academy as part of Plaquemine’s tournament.
Morgan City scored a run in the first and two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Tigers outhit St. Augustine, 10-3.
Evan Stadalis led Morgan City with a 2-for-3 performance with a double, an RBI and a stolen base. Other top contributors included Colby Glatter, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run; Caleb Landry, 1-for-4, an RBI; and Abram Hartley, 1-for-5, an RBI.
Morgan City stranded 13 runners, while St. Augustine, Morgan City coach Barret Rey’s alma mater, left seven on the base paths.
Rhett Fryou earned the win for Morgan City. In seven innings, he surrendered three hits, two walks, hit one batter and fanned three.
Morgan City (4-7) will return to action today when it travels to face Edna Karr in a 4 p.m. contest.
