Berwick High powerlifters compete at Abbeville meet

Berwick High School’s powerlifting teams were in action Saturday at a meet in Abbeville.
Four boys and three girls recorded second-place finishes to lead the squads.
On the boys’ side, Chaz Perry took second in the 198-pound class with a total of 1,030 pounds, while Austin Vercher was second in the 275-pound class with a total of 985 pounds. Blake Pennison finished second in the 114-pound weight class with a total of 345 pounds, and Brett Lemoine took second in the 132-pound class with a total of 645 pounds.
On the girls’ side, Cate Koen took second in the 181-pound class with a total of 490 pounds, while Brittany Roberie was second in the 114-pound class with a total of 435 pounds. Mary Grace Theriot finished second in the 105-pound class with a total of 400 pounds.

—123-pound class: Mateo Landry, 540 pounds total, third place.
—132-pound class: Christopher Beltran, 630 pounds total, third place.
—148-pound class: Brennan Benedietto, 780 pounds total, fifth place.
—165-pound class: Braxton Laurent, 705 pounds total, fourth place; and Bryce Ferguson, 705 pounds total, fifth place.
—198-pound class: Hunter Kapp, 800 pounds total, fourth place; and John McCorkle, 730 pounds, fifth place.

Girls
—132-pound class: Adella Guidroz, 400 pounds total, fourth place.
