Berwick, MCHS excel in swim meet

Berwick and Morgan City High schools led the way in team scoring locally at the Southwest Acadiana High School’s second meet in Lafayette Saturday.
Berwick’s girls finished third with 59 points, while Morgan City’s boys were second with 40 points.
Berwick finished second in combined team scoring with 88 points, while Morgan City was fourth with 49 points.
Morgan City’s girls finished fifth with nine points, while Berwick’s boys were third with 29 points.
Central Catholic’s girls finished six with six points, while the school’s boys team finished eighth with four points.
In combined team scoring, Central Catholic was tied for seventh with Rayne High with 10 points.
Additionally, Berwick’s Mary Jordan Melancon qualified for the Division III state meet after positing a qualifying mark of 1:24.06 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
