Berwick, Morgan City excel at swim meet

Berwick and Morgan City both excelled at the Southwest Acadiana Swim League’s High School Class 3A and 4A district meet in Lafayette this week.
Berwick finished second in boys’, girls’ and combined team scoring with 294 points, 323 points and 617 points, respectively.
Morgan City finished fifth in girls’ team scoring, third in boys’ team scoring and fourth overall, with 140 points, 195 points and 335 points, respectively.
St. Louis swept the team titles with 380 points in girls’ action, 533 in boys’ action and 913 points in combined team scoring.
Morgan City and Berwick high schools each were represented on the Southwest Acadiana Swim League’s High School Class 3A and 4A All-District team, with Morgan City placing two swimmers and Berwick, one.
Morgan City’s Jean Pat Dupuy and Ethan Aucoin and Berwick’s Mikey Martin all were named all-district following their performances at the Southwest Acadiana Swim League’s High School Class 3A and 4A meet Wednesday in Lafayette.
Dupuy made the team with a first-place finish in the 50-free in 25.86, while Aucoin was named an all-district selection after a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:15.15.
Martin made the team after a second-place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. He finished with a time of 2:42.10.
Both Morgan City and Berwick will return to action Saturday when they participate in Top 24 action, in which the top swimmers from the individual district meets in various classes this week compete against one another.
