Berwick tops Patterson 3-0

Berwick High School defeated Patterson High School 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16) in prep volleyball action Tuesday in Patterson.
Berwick had nine aces as a team in the win.
Ashton Morales led Berwick with three aces, seven kills, one block, seven assists and five digs, while Sydney Aucoin had seven kills and three digs.
Other top contributors included Mary Jordan Melancon, two kills, seven assists and eight digs; and Brittany Roberie, three aces and nine digs.
Erykah Singleton led Patterson with two aces, seven kills and two digs, while Arian Grogan had two aces and seven kills.
Other top contributors included Madison Paul, four aces and five digs; Tapanga Haven, four digs and five assists; and Josie Merida, five assists.
Patterson (3-4) will participate in Morgan City High School’s tournament beginning Thursday.
Berwick (5-4) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to take on Assumption, the 2014 Division II state runner-up. Junior varsity action will begin at 4 p.m., followed by varsity action and freshman play.
Morgan City defeats Delcambre
The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated Delcambre in straight sets, 25-17, 25-23, 25-11, on the road Tuesday.
Morgan City had eight aces and 34 kills as a team.
Kennedy Hebert led Morgan City with 14 kills, three assists and six digs, while Allie Vincent had one ace, three kills, 22 assists and four digs.
Other top contributors included Cecily Feliciano, six kills and nine digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, one ace, one assist and 12 digs; Dwanna LeBeau, six kills and seven digs; Alexandra Thompson, five kills and one block; Brandi Albarado, two aces, one assist and eight digs; Paige Loftin, four aces and four digs; and Kaitlyn Gros, two assists and six digs.
In junior varsity, Morgan City defeated Delcambre 2-0 (25-17, 25-11).
In junior varsity action, Vincent led Morgan City with three aces, seven assists and one dig, while McKenzie Smith had four aces and one kill.
Other top contributors included Scottie Metrejean, two kills, one block and three digs; Faith Crappell, one kill and six digs; and Sh’Diamond Holly, two kills and one dig.
In freshmen action, Morgan City won 2-0 (25-14, 26-24).
Karmen Peterson led Morgan City with seven aces and six digs.
Other top contributors included Hallie Blanchard, two aces, one kill and five digs, while Daysha Tivet had one ace and seven digs.
Morgan City (4-4) will return to action Thursday when it opens play in its tournament.
CCHS returns to action today
Central Catholic (6-8) will return to the court today when it hosts Runnels. Junior varsity action will begin at 4:30 p.m. with varsity to follow.
