Berwick volleyball sweeps scrimmages

Berwick High recorded an impressive 30 aces in a 3-1 victory in scrimmage action against Ellender Thursday.
The Lady Panthers were led at the service line by Rosalyn Gros, who had 10 aces — as well as a dig — as the Lady Panthers won 25-5, 25-11, 23-25, 25-11.
Others excelling in serving included Mary Jordan Melancon, seven aces, seven kills, one assist and one dig; Ashton Morales, six aces, five kills, seven assists and four digs; and Sydney Aucoin, six aces and five kills.
Hannah Carpenter led the team with seven digs. She also had an ace and a kill.
Berwick’s junior varsity and freshmen teams each won 2-0.
Berwick will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face both Terrebonne and South Lafourche in scrimmages at Terrebonne. Berwick’s junior varsity and then varsity will play at 3:30 p.m. against Terrebonne, while Berwick will face South Lafourche, beginning with junior varsity at 4:45 p.m.
