Berwick will travel to E.D. White Friday

The Berwick Panthers will look to carry the momentum from last week’s 28-0 victory against Haynes Academy into Friday’s District 8-3A contest at E.D. White in Thibodaux.
Last week’s win was the Panthers’ first shutout this season.
This week, Berwick will face an E.D. White squad with a 3-5 overall record, including a 2-2 mark in league play.
E.D. White defeated North Vermilion, 52-28, last week on the road.
The Cardinals are a run-heavy squad with three players with at least 330 yards rushing.
Brandon Legendre leads the squad with 69 carries for 593 yards and eight touchdowns. Other ball carriers of note include Nik Shanklin with 90 rushes for 540 yards and three scores; Michael Clement, 49 carries for 459 yards and four touchdowns; and Hayden Tortorich, 43 totes for 330 yards and six touchdowns.
Through the air, Hunter Tabor leads E.D. White. He has completed 17 of 34 passes for 253 yards with four touchdowns and five interceptions.
However, Legendre has seen time at quarterback in recent week and has completed 5 of 13 passes for 88 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Blaze Mims and Ben Eichler are E.D. White’s top receivers. Mims has caught three passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while Eichler has 10 receptions for 116 yards and three scores.
E.D. White is averaging 30.4 points a contest and surrendering 28 points per game.
As for Berwick, the squad is led by its passing game. Sophomore quarterback Mitchell Sanford has completed 63 of 125 passes for 1,293 yards with 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. Junior teammate Collin Louviere has completed 46 of 111 passes for 735 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Juniors Kenan Jones and Josh Carver, who both rank among the state’s best receivers in all classes, lead Berwick. Jones has 42 catches for 797 yards and eight touchdowns, while Carver has caught 40 passes for 757 yards and nine touchdowns.
Sophomore Josh Jones leads Berwick’s run game. He has carried 71 times for 418 yards and four scores. Louviere also has contributed 47 carries for 159 yards.
Berwick is averaging 29.5 points a contest and surrendering 24.9 points a game.
The Panthers are averaging 344 yards a game in total offense, and surrendering 309.6 yards per contest.
Friday’s game will begin at 7 p.m.
